Qi Gong (1912-2005) was a Chinese calligrapher and expert in calligraphy and painting. The character Yuanbo, a yuanbai. manchu. His surname was Ai Xin Jueluo, the ninth grandson of the Yongzheng Emperor. He is good at classical literature and paleography, and has taught at Fu Jen University. After 1949, he served as a professor at Beijing Normal University, an advisor to the Palace Museum, a chairman of the State Cultural Relics Appraisal Committee, the chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and a standing director of the Buddhist Association of China. He is the author of "Treatise on Ancient Fonts", "Treatise on the Sound Law of Poetry", "Qi Gong Series Draft", "On the Book of Absolute Sentences", etc., and published "Qi Gong Calligraphy and Painting Photo Collection" and a variety of calligraphy anthologies.

Mr. Qi Gong is best known for his calligraphy, but his paintings are also famous, which is difficult to look up to. Qi Gong first worshiped the painter Jia Ximin as a teacher, and then turned to the famous painter Wu Jingting to learn "insider painting". Later, he was two masters from Pu Xinshe and Qi Baishi.

For calligraphy, Qi Gong once told the painter Liu Zonghan that his characters did not have "cores". In this regard, Liu Zonghan's understanding is that this "clarifies the relationship between knots and qi, which cannot but be said to be a major contribution to the study of Chinese calligraphy." "Qi Gong" first imitates Zhao Dong and then Ouyang, and late loves Chengsheng to hang the body of the body", which is customarily "the pen of the two kings, the knot of Ou Liu", and finally becomes its own "Qi body", which the book circles comment on as "soft on the outside and rigid on the inside, natural and free, clean and elegant and feminine and gorgeous".

Qi Gong has studied a large number of inscriptions, and his calligraphy works, whether banners, albums, or screen links, can show beautiful rhythm and far-reaching artistic conception, which is called "Qi Body". The calligraphy community commented: "It is not only the book of the calligrapher, but also the book of the scholar and the book of the poet." ”

He was quite creative about the art of calligraphy itself, especially the structure of the characters. Most people learn calligraphy from the beginning of writing "nine squares" or "meter grids", and put the focus of the words on the center of the square. Qi Gong found that the center of gravity of the characters is not at the center point of the traditional rice grid, but in the four corners not far from the center, and also deduced that the proportional relationship between them is in line with the so-called "golden ratio", which has important guiding significance for learning calligraphy. Qi Gong's calligraphy works are highly favored in the market. Taking the 2003 Beijing Spring Auction as an example, China Guardian launched a total of 10 of his works, all of which were sold, of which 4 were more than 80,000 yuan, and the mirror heart of "Seven Paintings of Tang and Song Poems" was auctioned to 418,000 yuan, and the transaction price was staggering. From the perspective of the development of calligraphy, all the calligraphy that is well-behaved is good calligraphy and more valuable.

On his 66th birthday, Mr. Qi Gong drew up an epitaph for himself:

Middle school student, associate professor. Bo is not refined, not thorough. Although the name is famous, it is not enough. High is not enough, low is not enough. Paralyzed to the left, Pai zeng right. The face is slightly round, the skin is not thick, the wife is dead, and there is no queen. The mourning is still new, and the illness is the same. Sixty-six, not unsound. Eight treasure mountains, gradually together. Counting life, ugly. Body and name, all stink.

Mr. Qi Gong's humor is impressive, and Mr. Qi Gong's open-mindedness commands admiration. People are self-aware, the more honest and humble people, the more prestige, the higher the evaluation, because justice is in the hearts of the people, everyone has a scale in their hearts, not relying on their own scales, or even bragging about themselves, if so, it is only a laughing stock.

Reading, the world's first pleasure, rarely buy a complete set of books, but there are three sets of still can't help the temptation: one is the complete collection of Su Shi, the second is the complete collection of Dunhuang writing, and the third is the complete collection of Qi Gong, because I believe that these three sets of books can be pillow books, and can be read for a lifetime.
