Cui Ruzhuo is a famous calligrapher, painter, connoisseur and collector. Born in Beijing in 1944, he settled in the United States in 1981 and previously taught at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, where he received an honorary doctorate in 1984 from Dewey University in New York. He returned to China in 1996 and settled in Beijing, where he is currently a doctoral supervisor at the China Academy of Arts.
In his early years, Cui Ruzhuo took the fa Shitao, Bada Shanren, Wu Changshuo, Fu Baoshi and other masters of the past, and later worshiped under the master of Chinese painting Li Kuchan, and the calligraphy was taught by the calligrapher Zheng Shuxian. Since the 1980s, it has collected the fine calligraphy and paintings of successive masters of art, including calligraphy and paintings from the Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing and modern masters, and the collection is quite numerous. During his time in the United States, his calligraphy and painting works have won many artistic achievement awards in international exhibitions, and have been widely collected by former US President Reagan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Ms. Chen Xiangmei, Ms. Song Meiling, Dr. Pei, Taiwan plastic giant Wang Yongqing, newspaper magnate Wang Tiwu, former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the Thai royal family and dozens of museums, art galleries and institutions of higher learning in Asia, Europe and the United States. In China, Cui Ruzhuo's works have been given to foreign heads of state as state gifts by state leaders many times, and there are many collections in the Great Hall of the People, diaoyutai State Guesthouse, and the Palace Museum.
