Born in Shanghai in 1922, Qin Yi participated in his first film "Good Husband" in 1939, and later performed dramas in Chongqing, Chengdu and other places. In 1941, at the invitation of director Yunwei, Qin Yi joined the China Drama Art Society under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and became popular for playing the role of Huang Shuhui in the "Zhongyi" gong play "The Rejuvenation of the Earth", and later she successively participated in dramas such as "Spring and Autumn of the Kingdom of Heaven", "Minister of Qincha", "Dong Xiaowan", "Wedding March" and other dramas, and her outstanding performance won her the title of "one of the four famous dans in the drama industry".
