The International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee yesterday released the second edition of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Olympic and Paralympic Epidemic Prevention Manual (hereinafter referred to as the "Epidemic Prevention Manual"). The Epidemic Prevention Handbook will help athletes, team officials and all other Olympic participants finalize plans for travel to and arrival in Beijing, schedules during the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and time to leave China.

According to the person in charge of the relevant department of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the latest version of the manual provides more detailed information on vaccination, customs entry requirements, air ticket reservations, pre-departure testing, Winter Olympic games, closed-loop management, accommodation, transportation, catering, nucleic acid testing, health monitoring, close contact management, and the transition period between the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The manual also includes a "Precautions" section to help guide stakeholders through each stage of the event.
Han Zirong, full-time vice chairman and secretary general of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said: "After full consultation and extensive discussion, the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee jointly formulated the second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual on the basis of refining and improving the first edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual. The measures described in the Epidemic Prevention Handbook are based on the latest scientific research results, expert opinions and other experience in international events in epidemic prevention and control, and we believe that these countermeasures can effectively reduce the risk of the epidemic, not only to ensure the safe and convenient participation of athletes and all Olympic-related personnel in training, competitions and work, but also to protect the health and safety of the Chinese people. I hope that everyone can strictly abide by it and work together to dedicate a simple, safe and wonderful Olympic event to the world. ”
It is also understood that Christopher Durby, executive director of the Olympic Department of the International Olympic Committee, said of the second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual: "Together with the International Paralympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, we have worked closely with the world's top experts in the field of health and sports event delivery to finally determine the necessary epidemic prevention and control measures to ensure the safe and successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games." ”
Dolby added: "By creating a safe environment, the Beijing Winter Olympics will create a unique in-game experience designed to help athletes focus on sports, which is the most fundamental element of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games." These guidelines will also guide us in developing all of our event plans, ensuring that the world's attention is focused on the outstanding performance of these world's top winter athletes at next year's Beijing Winter Olympics. ”
Colleen Rennes, Chief Paralympic Delivery Officer of the International Paralympic Committee, said: "The second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual is the result of the continued close cooperation between the IOC, the IPC and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee. Drawing on the experience of major events around the world and the advice of medical experts, we believe that the principles in the Epidemic Prevention Handbook will help Olympic participants to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games while protecting their own health. It is essential that the Epidemic Prevention Manual is designed to protect the safety and health of all those involved in Austria and the local population. ”
The second edition of the Handbook complements the first edition by adding information of interest to various stakeholders and feedback from a number of briefings since October. In this way, the formulation of the principles of epidemic prevention is made more transparent and ensures that all participants, by participating in the development process, understand the specific rules they need to follow.
It is reported that the relevant parties will also hold a series of briefings to provide further policy information. In view of the constant changes in the global epidemic situation, additional epidemic prevention measures will be taken in a timely manner before and when necessary during the game to ensure the safety of all Olympic-related personnel and local people.
