Three hundred million people, ice and snow fever!

At the closing ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, IOC President Bach said in his speech: "We have been able to have such an unforgettable experience thanks to our hospitable hosts , all Chinese people. More than 300 million people in China have participated in ice and snow sports, and China's ice and snow athletes have achieved great success. This is an unparalleled Winter Olympics, we welcome China to become a big country in ice and snow sports, congratulations to China!" 」

The reason why Bach issued such praise is inseparable from the long-term development of ice and snow sports in China. In addition to the new high competition results at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the results of the popularization and promotion of ice and snow sports are also obvious to all.

Friends who are familiar with China's ice and snow may be familiar with the phrase "bring 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports", from this figure, the average 5 people around you have at least one person who has skated or skated over the ice.

This promise dates back to July 31, 2015, when Beijing won the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympics at the 128th Plenary Session of the International Olympic Committee in Kuala Lumpur. In the process of bidding for the Winter Olympics, China officially made a solemn commitment to the international community to "bring 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports".

On January 12, 2022, the "Driving 300 Million People to Participate in Ice and Snow Sports" Statistical Survey Report was officially released, and the statistical report showed that as of October 2021, the number of residents in the country who had participated in ice and snow sports was 346 million, and the participation rate of ice and snow sports was 24.56%, achieving the goal of driving 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports.

Among them, the number of ice and snow sports participants of residents under the age of 18 was 0.46 billion, and the participation rate was 15.62%. The number of participants in ice and snow sports among residents aged 18 and over reached 300 million, and the participation rate was 26.95%.

Judging from the publicly released report, there is no clear definition of "participation", but in the "Ice and Snow Sports Development Plan (2016-2025)", the ice and snow sports population is divided into direct ice and snow sports participants and indirect ice and snow sports people, and it is proposed that by 2025, the number of people directly participating in ice and snow sports will exceed 50 million.

This point is also confirmed in the frequency data of ice and snow sports released this time, 50.55% of the interviewed participants only participate in ice and snow sports once every two or even three years, which shows that the proportion of regular participants in ice and snow sports is relatively small, and there are more experiential participants.

In terms of the number of participants in ice and snow sports, the mainland has become the world's "ice and snow sports power", and the Chinese delegation has achieved a total of 76 medals in 27 gold, 24 silver and 25 bronze medals in the journey of the Double Olympic Games, creating a new history. Refreshing the Chinese people's understanding of ice and snow sports.

Judging from the heat of the circle of friends in the snow season, there is indeed a trend of ice and snow, and the ice rink near home is also crowded. As more and more people participate in and experience ice and snow sports, the development of the ice and snow industry has also entered the fast lane.

However, with the end of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympic Games, the end of the snow season, and the approaching pace of spring, how long the enthusiasm for ice and snow can last has also become a concern for all parties.

From the following five dimensions, we have conducted some data analysis and inventory, and we also expect that in the post-Winter Olympic era, ice and snow sports will continue to develop.
