Winter Paralympic Song of Youth

Great Wall Network Jiyun client reporter Liu Lanlan

From March 3 to 13 this year, I participated in the coverage of the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games. In just ten days, I met such a group of young people. They fought bravely on the field, let the five-star red flag rise again and again in the awards square, they used warm and thoughtful volunteer service to ensure the normal progress of the race, showing the image of Chinese enthusiasm, friendship and unity... All the moments converged into my own Winter Paralympic memories.

The Zhangjiakou Awards Plaza on the evening of March 7 was a highlight for Chinese athletes. At the award ceremony of the Men's Steeplechase-UL Level Competition of the Beijing Winter Paralympic Winter Games, three five-star red flags were raised at the same time, and Hebei athletes Ji Lijia, Wang Pengyao and Zhu Yonggang won the gold, silver and bronze medals in the project! On the podium, the three athletes put the three medals together to form a triangular shape. In interviews, they said it represented their unity and friendship. I also witnessed this glorious moment at the award ceremony that day, which was also my happy moment as a journalist. The Winter Paralympic Games moved me not only from the podium, but also with the change of sports to athletes.

Young athlete Wang Yue is 22 years old, and her world has been a blur since she can remember. In the Paralympic biathlon women's sprint (visually impaired) competition held on 5 March, Wang Yue finished fourth. In an interview after the game, Wang Yue said: "I can't see the world clearly, but I want the world to see me." ”

In the following competition, Wang Yue used his efforts and strength to achieve her wish. In the biathlon women's middle distance (visually impaired) event, Wang Yue won the bronze medal with a time of 43 minutes and 16 seconds 3 seconds. In the winter Paralympic cross-country skiing women's middle distance (free technical) visually impaired group final, Wang Yue won the silver medal. From not being seen to being seen by the world, winter Paralympic athletes are using hard work, hard work, and tenacity to make the world remember them. As journalists, our duty is to record these touching moments, to freeze the moment when they are seen by the world...

In addition to the athletes, I was also impressed by the group of young and energetic volunteers during the journey of this Winter Paralympic Games. The little girl's name was Han Xiangyu, and when I met her, she was explaining in English to a Japanese reporter how to book a taxi on her mobile phone.

She is a volunteer at the National Biathlon Center in Zhangjiakou at the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Winter Games, working at the service desk of the venue's media center to provide volunteer services for domestic and foreign media journalists who come to the venue to cover. "This journalist from Italy likes to greet our volunteers with Chinese." "This journalist from Switzerland would come to us to exchange badges, and we exchanged gifts as souvenirs." Han Xiangyu happily introduced her "volunteer memories" to me with these photos... As a volunteer, while she is enthusiastic about serving, she also shows the good spiritual outlook of Chinese youth to friends from all over the world.

The exam questions of the times have been listed, and the answer sheets of youth are being written. As a young journalist, it is my responsibility and mission to witness, record and disseminate. I was fortunate to have this precious opportunity to participate in the Winter Paralympics, witness the Winter Paralympics, record the precious moments of athletes and volunteers with the camera, and be touched by these moving youth stories in the report. Now, although the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games are over, these stories and these people at the Winter Paralympic Games will become the memories of my career forever.
