The Great Wall Broadcasts Directly to the Winter Olympics 丨 Hebei Treasure Changxin Palace Lamp occupies the "C" position in the Forbidden City's opening annual exhibition

Great Wall Network Jiyun Client News (Reporter Li Lijun Hu Xiaomei) A snowstorm has added a strong ice and snow atmosphere to Beijing, the "city of the Two Olympics". On February 14, 2022, the Beijing News Center invited more than 100 Chinese and foreign journalists to visit the Forbidden City, watch the Opening Year Exhibition, and read about China among the more than 130 cultural relics selected from 30 museums across the country.

Covered in white snow and ice, the Forbidden City is full of charm. Looking around, the magnificent palace covered with "white veil" is like the Jinshui River with "ice ribbon", and the immaculate snow is like another ice and snow "arena" that has traveled through time and space.

In the Wenhua Hall of the Forbidden City, the "Why China - Ancient Chinese Civilization and "National Treasures" Special Exhibition" is being held, and more than 130 cultural relics selected by 30 museums across the country tell the story of China.

More than 130 precious cultural relics, from the Upper Stone Age to the Qing Dynasty, include stone tools, ceramics, jade, bronzes, gold and silverware, calligraphy and painting, ancient books, seals and other categories, including He Zun, Changxin Palace lamp, Tibetan "Four Medical Classics" and other well-known national treasures. The exhibition regards the long-standing and profound Chinese civilization as a big river, and shows the charm of Chinese civilization with three units: "source", "flow" and "convergence".

The Changxin Palace lamp, which is collected by the Hebei Museum, occupies the "C" position in the exhibition hall, attracting the most attention from media reporters.

The Changxin Palace lamp was excavated in 1968 in the tomb of Dou Xie, the wife of Liu Sheng, the King of Zhongshan Jing, In Mancheng County, Hebei Province. The lamp body is gilded throughout, which looks brilliant and gorgeous. The palace maid sitting with the lamp in both hands has a quiet and elegant look. The lamp body is 48 cm high and weighs 15.85 kg. The design is very clever, the palace maid holds a lamp in one hand, and the sleeve of the other hand seems to be blocking the wind, which is actually a rainbow pipe to absorb oil smoke, which not only prevents air pollution, but also has aesthetic value. This palace lamp was named after the Changxin Palace that was once placed in Empress Dou (Liu Sheng's grandmother).

Since its excavation, this cultural relic has been considered an important representative and peak work of Chinese national arts and crafts, reflecting the superb level of gilding craftsmanship in the Han Dynasty.

The exquisite craftsmanship and ingenious and unique artistic conception of the Changxin Palace lamp made everyone present breathtaking.

Li Jianye, the torch designer of the Beijing Winter Olympics, once said that the Changxin Palace lamp is a Western Han Palace lamp more than 2,000 years ago, with a light and gorgeous shape and a clever design that is environmentally friendly. "Long faith" is an eternal belief, representing people's pursuit and yearning for light and hope. When designing the Tinder lamp for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the design team modernized the tinder lamp on the basis of retaining the basic shape of the Changxin Palace lamp, and the flying red ribbon surrounded the top of the tinder lamp, which was visually unified with the torch "flying", symbolizing the Olympic spirit of hard work.

In addition, this exhibition also exhibits a number of heavyweight cultural relics, He Zun displayed in the center display cabinet. According to the on-site staff, there is a 122-character inscription on the bottom of this bronze, and the inscription "House China" means that "China" is the place where the capital city was built. This is the earliest known word for "China", although it refers to Luoyang and the surrounding areas at the time.

The other two heavy cultural relics are the Jade Dragon excavated from Yuhang Anti-Mountain in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and the Jade Dragon from the Palace Museum. It is worth mentioning that the Wenyuan Pavilion on the north side of the Wenhua Hall, as the last "exhibit" of this exhibition, echoes the "Four Libraries of the Whole Book" (photocopied version) at the end of the exhibition hall of the Wenhua Hall.

It is reported that the "Why China" opening exhibition was guided by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, led by the Central Radio and Television Station and the Palace Museum, and jointly organized by more than 30 cultural and museum institutions across the country.
