According to the official website of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee on December 13, the second edition of the "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Olympic and Paralympic Epidemic Prevention Manual" has been released.

The "Epidemic Prevention Manual" mentions that in addition to medical exemptions, all personnel coming to China must complete the full vaccination of the new crown vaccine at least 14 days before they can be exempted from centralized isolation and enter closed-loop management. Those who have not completed the full vaccination process must undergo 21 days of centralized isolation at the designated location before entering the closed-loop system.

It is reported that the epidemic prevention guidelines will help athletes, team officials and all other Olympic-related personnel finalize plans to go to and arrive in Beijing, the timing of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the time to leave China.

The latest edition of the manual provides more detailed information on vaccinations, customs entry requirements, air ticket reservations, pre-departure testing, Winter Olympic seasons, closed-loop management, accommodation, transportation, catering, nucleic acid testing, health monitoring, close management, and the transition period between the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The manual also includes a "Precautions" section to help guide stakeholders through each stage of the event.

Commenting on the newly released Epidemic Prevention Manual, Christopher Duby, Executive Director of the IOC Olympic Department, said: "Together with the International Paralympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, we have worked closely with the world's top experts in the field of health and sports event delivery to finalize the necessary epidemic prevention and control measures to ensure the safe and successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games." ”

"By creating a safe environment, the Beijing Winter Olympics will create a unique time-of-event experience designed to help athletes focus their attention on sports, which is the most fundamental element of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games," he added. These guidelines will also guide us in developing all of our event plans, ensuring that the world's attention is focused on the outstanding performance of these world's top winter athletes at next year's Beijing Winter Olympics. ”

Colleen Rennes, Chief Paralympic Delivery Officer of the International Paralympic Committee, said: "The second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual is the result of the continued close cooperation between the IOC, the IPC and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee. Drawing on the experience of major events around the world and the advice of medical experts, we believe that the principles in the Epidemic Prevention Handbook will help Olympic participants to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games while protecting their own health. It is essential that the Epidemic Prevention Manual is designed to protect the safety and health of all those involved in Austria and the local population. ”

Han Zirong, full-time vice chairman and secretary general of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said: "After full consultation and extensive discussion, the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee jointly formulated the second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual on the basis of refining and improving the first edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual. We believe that these measures can effectively reduce the risk of the epidemic, not only ensure the safe and convenient participation of athletes and all Olympic-related personnel in training, competitions and work, but also protect the health and safety of the Chinese people. I hope that everyone can strictly abide by it and work together to dedicate a simple, safe and wonderful Olympic event to the world. ”

The second edition of the Handbook complements the first edition by adding information of interest to various stakeholders and feedback from a number of briefings since October. In this way, the formulation of the principles of epidemic prevention is made more transparent and ensures that all participants, by participating in the development process, understand the specific rules they need to follow.

The Beijing Winter Olympics will be held from 4 to 20 February 2022 and the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games will be held from 4 to 13 March 2022.
