On December 13, the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee released the second edition of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Olympic and Paralympic Epidemic Prevention Manual (hereinafter referred to as the "Epidemic Prevention Manual").

The second edition of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Epidemic Prevention Manual was released

The guidelines will help athletes, accompanying officials and all other Olympic-related personnel finalize plans for travel to and arrival in Beijing, timing during the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and time to leave China.

The latest edition of the manual provides more detailed information on vaccinations, customs entry requirements, air ticket reservations, pre-departure testing, Winter Olympic seasons, closed-loop management, accommodation, transportation, catering, nucleic acid testing, health monitoring, close management, and the transition period between the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The manual also includes a "Precautions" section to help guide stakeholders through each stage of the event.

Commenting on the newly released Epidemic Prevention Manual, Christopher Duby, Executive Director of the IOC Olympic Department, said: "Together with the International Paralympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, we have worked closely with the world's top experts in the field of health and sports event delivery to finalize the necessary epidemic prevention and control measures to ensure the safe and successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games." By creating a safe environment, he added, the Beijing Winter Olympics will create a unique in-game experience designed to help athletes focus their attention on sports, which is the most fundamental element of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

"Drawing on the experience of major events around the world and the advice of medical experts, we believe that the principles in the second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual will help Olympic and Paralympic personnel to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games while protecting their own health," said Colline Lane, Chief Paralympic Delivery Officer of the International Paralympic Committee. It is essential that the Epidemic Prevention Manual is designed to protect the safety and health of all those involved in Austria and the local population. ”

Han Zirong, full-time vice chairman and secretary general of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said that the measures described in the second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Manual are based on the latest scientific research results, expert opinions and other international event experience in epidemic prevention and control, and believe that these countermeasures can effectively reduce the risk of the epidemic, not only ensure that athletes and all Olympic-related personnel can safely and conveniently participate in training, competitions and work, but also protect the health and safety of the Chinese people.

The second edition of the Epidemic Prevention Handbook complements the first edition with information of interest to various stakeholders and feedback from a number of briefings since October. In this way, the formulation of the principles of epidemic prevention is made more transparent and ensures that all participants, by participating in the development process, understand the specific rules they need to follow.

In view of the constant changes in the global epidemic situation, additional epidemic prevention measures will be taken in a timely manner before and when necessary during the game to ensure the safety of all Olympic-related personnel and local people.
