Accused of being amphibious by the political media, Taiwan's NCC will examine Zhao Shaokang's violation of the party, government, and military provisions

Zhao Shaokang, chairman of China Broadcasting Corporation, was appointed as the deputy candidate for the leadership of the Taiwan region of the opposition Kuomintang in Taiwan on Friday (November 24), and Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) will review the suspicion that Zhao Shaokang was accused of amphibious political media and suspected of violating the party, government and military provisions.

According to Taiwan's "Liberty Times" and media reports, Zhao Shaokang officially served as the deputy of Hou Youyi, the Kuomintang leader candidate for the Taiwan region, on Friday, and ran for the 2024 Taiwan leadership deputy election.

Zhao Shaokang is currently the chairman of China Broadcasting Corporation, has a shareholding of China Broadcasting Group, and also hosts programs in China Broadcasting and TVBS. Zhao Shaokang has resigned as a TVBS program host, but he has not yet resigned as chairman of China Broadcasting Corporation.

In this regard, DPP legislator Lin Chuyin criticized Zhao Shaokang for knowing that the "political media amphibious" was illegal, but he was unwilling to resign as chairman of the board of directors of China Broadcasting, obviously having no confidence in Hou Youyi and the Kuomintang's election results. Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Zhuang Ruixiong also said that Zhao Shaokang used to be regarded as a "political golden boy" and a person who cherished his feathers, and he also demanded high standards from others.

In the face of the accusations, Zhao Shaokang responded that according to Taiwan's election and recall law, he must resign as chairman of Zhongguang only if he is elected vice president, and now he is only a candidate, so there is no question of resignation. "Don't force me, the law stipulates that you must resign when you take office, why should you be above the law?"

TVBS issued a statement on Friday night to express its respect, and said that Zhao Shaokang will find another host for the relevant programs hosted by TVBS, and that TVBS will continue to uphold the spirit of media neutrality, objectivity and fairness in the future, and continue to provide audiences with more diverse news perspectives.

In response to the above controversy, Weng Pak-chung, vice chairman and spokesman of Taiwan's NCC, said that whether Zhao Shaokang was recommended by a political party to register as a candidate for the deputy position of leader of the Taiwan region violates Article 5-1 of the Radio and Television Law, which stipulates that "the government, political parties, party affairs personnel of political parties, and elected public officials shall not invest" and "shall not serve as directors and supervisors", etc., have yet to be determined by the NCC committee.

In addition, in 2007, when the equity transaction case of Zhongguang was made, it promised to the NCC that "its operation will not be affected by the party, government and military", as well as the supplementary provisions of the change of directors and supervisors this year, which will be reviewed by the NCC. #Challenge 30 days to write a diary in Toutiao##Headline Creation Challenge##Breaking the news##Seeing each other in Toutiao##I want to be on Toutiao##Wonderful Pen Creation Challenge##I want to be on Micro Headlines##Light up the True Knowledge Project##Positive energy##Taiwan##Cross-Strait##新闻#
