The mainland is one of the countries most affected by typhoons in the world, and the 12 coastal provinces (municipalities directly under the central government) and the central region of the mainland may be affected by typhoon activity. Guidelines for Public Meteorological Disaster Defense Behavior Typhoon (GB/T 43237-2023) provides the general principles of public defense against typhoon disasters and suggestions on defense behaviors in the three stages of response to typhoon disasters, which is conducive to cultivating public risk awareness and improving public defense and emergency self-rescue capabilities in response to typhoon disasters. The implementation of this standard will lay the foundation for improving the response mechanism of the whole society led by meteorological disaster early warning, maximize the safety of public life and property, and reduce the cost of national disaster prevention and relief.
