Recently, the Huaiji County Meteorological Bureau held a science popularization practice activity of "Thousands of Meteorological Studies" to actively spread the concept of disaster prevention and mitigation and strengthen the popularization of meteorological knowledge. Representatives of teachers and students of Huai Concentration School participated in the event.
The activity includes four parts: explanation of ground meteorological observation equipment, experience of weather modification equipment, visit to meteorological observatory and lecture on disaster prevention and mitigation. The students learned to use observation instruments to measure meteorological elements such as temperature, rainfall, wind direction and speed, and experienced the artificial rain enhancement operation and launch equipment. In the lecture on disaster reduction knowledge, the science popularization volunteers also explained to the students in simple terms the common local meteorological disasters, meteorological disaster warning signals, defensive measures, and the use of radar charts to see the weather, helping students broaden their horizons, enhance their scientific literacy, and let students have a deeper understanding of meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge.
