It has been frequently reported that the United States has evacuated overseas Chinese, and many departments in Taiwan are exhausted to "refute rumors."

According to a report by Taiwan's "Liberty Times" on July 11, Liu Yongjian, spokesman for Taiwan's foreign affairs department, pointed out at a regular meeting this morning that in the social media LINE, some people deliberately circulated false information this morning, once again hyping up the news of the United States' "evacuation of overseas Chinese in Taiwan", and also deliberately alleged that "US citizens must board the plane within 3 days after they arrive at the plane" and "there is a baggage weight limit." The newspaper quoted Bryant, strategic communications coordinator of the White House National Security Council, as clarifying at a White House press conference in June that the evacuation of U.S. citizens from conflict zones is not a regular U.S. policy, and there is no indication that Taiwan's current situation needs to be reconsidered this policy.

Some US media reported that at a time when the situation in the Taiwan Strait is tense, false information about "slandering US-Taiwan relations" has frequently appeared in Taiwan recently, such as Taiwan's research and development of biological warfare agents under US pressure, the withdrawal of US citizens in Taiwan, and the use of the US Institute in Taiwan and the students' land grabbing of land, which has made the Taiwan authorities "tired of clarifying" and even suspecting that the mainland side has thought of using the Taiwan media to achieve a specific purpose in a new round of "psychological warfare."

On 9 July, Taiwan's Lianhe Pao carried the headline "From Anti-Biological Warfare Agents to Secretly Promoting R&D and the DPP Blindly Pro-US and Destroying Conscience," saying that Taiwan, under pressure from the United States, secretly promoted the establishment of a capability for developing biological warfare agents, and criticized this as "a crazy move by a government that has lost its mind."

Lianhe Pao continued to report on July 10 that on June 23, 2022 and January 9, 2023, then-Chief Executive Su Zhenchang twice presided over a secret meeting codenamed "South China Sea Work Conference", saying that the minutes showed that Taiwan's "Ministry of National Defense" representative said, "According to the requirements of the United States, Taiwan plans to build a new P4 laboratory, and the United States will send someone to assist in reviewing the plan." According to the report, the chairman of the meeting told the officials present that the P4 laboratory and the development of drones should be expanded at the request of the United States, and Tsai Ing-wen attached great importance to it, "asking the Ministry of Defense to control and implement it according to the progress."

Taiwan's "Ministry of National Defense" issued a press release for two consecutive days to clarify, saying that the relevant content was pure false speculation, Taiwan's defense department did not "participate in secret meetings to develop biological warfare agents according to the requirements of the United States", and "the purpose of the P4 laboratory is to detect, protect and treat, and Taiwan will never develop, manufacture, store or obtain biological warfare agents." ”

Taiwan's "presidential office spokesman" Lin Yuzen said on July 11 that Taiwan has no plans to develop biological warfare agents. The report by Lianhe Pao is a groundless accusation, which has harmed the interests of Taiwan and the Taiwan people, and is even more a malicious provocation of regional stability and is very irresponsible. Lin also said, "At present, it has been noticed that the mainland media is using this operation to spread a new wave of false information."

U.S. media quoted Taiwanese officials as saying that Chinese mainland launched a "disinformation campaign," which included news reports about Taiwan's regional leaders formulating "escape plans" aimed at undermining Taiwan's morale.
