2. Liu Yongtan's contribution to scientific research and academic achievements

Liu Yongtan has long been committed to the teaching and research of electronic engineering, especially the research on the radar system and signal processing technology of the new system, and is the founder of the radar theory system of the new system of China's sea exploration. He has a certain level of attainment in the field of radar system and signal processing technology, and has achieved a series of scientific research achievements.

1. Successfully developed China's first experimental ISAR

Liu Yongtan led the research team and the relevant research institutes of the China Aerospace Industry Corporation to jointly develop China's first experimental ISAR, which laid a certain foundation for the further development of China's ISAR technology, and the project reached the international advanced level in the 90s of the 20th century.

2. Successfully developed radar equipment with sea detection capability

Liu Yongtan has successfully developed China's only radar equipment with all-weather, all-weather, over-the-horizon, and sea-air compatible sea detection capabilities.

3. Develop and build China's first radar station with a new system

Liu Yongtan developed a new system of sea detection radar, broke through 11 key technologies, solved the problems of signal processing and target detection in the background of strong sea clutter, radio interference and atmospheric noise, and built China's first new system radar station.

3. Liu Yongtan mainly studied and worked in the work

He studied at Harbin Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, and Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering

From September 1953 to July 1954, Liu Yongtan studied Russian at the preparatory department of Harbin Institute of Technology.

From 1954.09 to 1956.07, Liu Yongtan studied in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology;

From September 1956 to July 1958, Liu Yongtan studied radio technology in the Radio Department of Tsinghua University.

From 1959.09 to 1960.03, Liu Yongtan studied microwave technology and antenna in the second department of Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering;

From January 1979 to March 1981, Yongtan Liu was a visiting scholar at the University of Birmingham.

From January 1991 to the present, Liu Yongtan has served as the dean and professor of the Graduate School of Harbin Institute of Technology. In the same year, Liu Yongtan was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (renamed as an academician after 1993);

In 1994, Liu Yongtan was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (the first batch);

From January 2004 to January 2008, Yongtan Liu concurrently served as the Presidium of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Deputy Director of the Department of Information Technology Science.
