On April 26, GAC Trumpchi released the hybrid technology brand , Julang Hybrid, and launched the first SUV model of the power combination, Yingku, to fully accelerate the pace of electrification transformation.
Full hybrid cut into the new track, GAC Trumpchi is not the first. Behind this, the target is the huge blue ocean market in the future. According to the plan, by 2025, the proportion of new hybrid vehicles in the mainland should reach more than 50%, and by 2030, the proportion will further reach 75%.
"By 2035, the annual sales of energy-saving vehicles and new energy vehicles in the mainland will account for half of each, and all traditional energy-powered passenger cars will be converted to hybrids, so as to achieve a comprehensive electrification transformation of the automobile industry." As early as the release of the "Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 2.0" in 2020, Wang Binggang, head of the expert group of the National New Energy Vehicle Innovation Engineering Project, explained the reason.
The data shows that the hybrid market has shown an expanding trend in the past two years and has become a new hot spot in the market. In March this year, the wholesale volume of ordinary hybrid passenger cars in mainland China alone reached 74,600 units, up 62% year-on-year and 32% month-on-month.
It can be said that the scramble is a strategic layout about the future and cannot fail. So, where are the core advantages of GAC Trumpchi's "Julang Hybrid"? Can GMC+THS achieve the effect of 1+1>2? And how to attract the favor of consumers?

As early as last year's Guangzhou Auto Show, GAC Trumpchi released the "hybrid + intelligent" dual-core drive development strategy, and put forward the development goal: hybridization of all models in 2025, hybrid sales accounted for more than 60% in 2030, challenging to achieve carbon neutrality in 2045.
In fact, GAC Trumpchi is not a first mover in the hybrid market, so what are the characteristics of Julang Hybrid?
GAC Trumpchi said that Julang Hybrid is a hybrid technology brand launched under the background of "double carbon" with deep insight into the needs of market users, including two hybrid technology routes: one route is the forward self-developed GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system, and the other route is the THS power shunt hybrid system cooperated with Toyota, which realizes the combination of turbocharged engine and THS system.
This means that GAC Trumpchi has become the only brand in the market with a dual-hybrid technology route through independent research and development and open cooperation.

In fact, the THS power shunt hybrid system cooperated by GAC Trumpchi and Toyota has been installed in the new second-generation GS8.
Can cover full hybrid scenes
Since 2021, the mainstream domestic independent brands, including Great Wall, Geely and Chang'an, have increased their efforts to seize the hybrid market, and have successively launched a new lemon DHT system, blue whale iDD hybrid system, DM-i super hybrid, new Raytheon hybrid system, Mach power MHD hybrid system, and so on.
It is not difficult to find that a considerable part of this is in plug-in hybrid, which also requires future hybrid systems to achieve multi-layer coverage at the technical level to meet diversified consumer demand. The GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system developed by GAC Trumpchi is a self-developed system with strong extensibility, covering oil-electric hybrid, plug-in hybrid and even hydrogen power system, covering the full hybrid scene.
GAC Trumpchi said that GMC hybrid system has more than 400 core patents, invention patents accounted for 57%, more than 740 extended patents, breaking the patent barriers of international auto giants and mastering independent intellectual property rights.

As a blockbuster strategic model for GAC Trumpchi's "XEV+ICV" dual-core strategy, Yingku will provide hybrid + fuel 3 sets of total (1.5T/2.0T/HEV) and saturated coverage of customer needs in the A-class SUV market.
According to the plan, in terms of electrification strategy landing products, GAC Trumpchi will also launch hybrid models of Shadow Leopard and M8 this year.
