Peugeot Citroen Automobile's plant was discontinued last year with a production capacity of 355,000 units per year, and will no longer be used as a passenger car production base in the future. The online car market learned that Dongfeng Motor is carrying out a "high-end electric off-road vehicle technology transformation project" and will cut 50,000 units/year production capacity from the DPCA factory for the production of high-end electric off-road vehicles. This move can be regarded as Dongfeng's use of the joint venture company to feed back its autonomy, which not only revitalizes the production capacity of Shenlong, but also saves the project budget.
It is understood that the first factory of Shenlong (Wuhan factory manufacturing department) is located in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, which is about 7.1km away from the above project site. The plant has two high-end production lines of Citroen C6 and Peugeot 508L, which are mainly produced according to order demand. Another production line produces Citroen C4L, Peugeot 408 and other models.

In 2020, the total number of Vascoon Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen was only 46,518 units, of which citroen C6 was 1,564 units, down 27% year-on-year; Citroen C4L was 86 units, down 95% year-on-year; Peugeot 408 was 8,366 units, down 37% year-on-year, and the 355,000 units/year capacity of the DPCA plant has been seriously overcapacitated. Dongfeng high-end off-road vehicles are planned to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles, and it is not excluded that the remaining 50,000 vehicles/ annual production capacity will continue to be transferred from the First Plant of Shenlong.
