Diesel engine sales in the first quarter are finally out!
According to the data released by the China-China Association, in March 2022, domestic internal combustion engine sales were 4.1118 million units, an increase of 30.04% month-on-month and 11.84% year-on-year. From January to March 2022, the cumulative sales of domestic internal combustion engines were 11.5613 million units, down 6.93% year-on-year.
Sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles, which are closely related to the commercial vehicle market, got rid of the dilemma of "double decline" and achieved a month-on-month increase, but the year-on-year still declined: in March 2022, the sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles were 207,800 units, an increase of 29.73% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 44.20%; from January to March, the cumulative sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles were 552,100 units, down 44.43% year-on-year, and the decline was still very obvious.

In March 2022, diesel engine sales were 508,600 units, up 39.47% month-on-month and down 28.29% year-on-year.
From January to March 2022, the cumulative sales of diesel engines were 1.3157 million units, down 30.7% year-on-year. Compared with the data of January and February, the year-on-year decline in cumulative sales in the first quarter slowed down slightly, but the difference was not obvious, and the year-on-year decline was still 30%.
The multi-cylinder diesel engine for commercial vehicles, which is closely related to the commercial vehicle industry, is still more obvious than the overall situation of diesel engines.

March, generally speaking, is the month after the Spring Festival market began to recover, but in March this year, the impact of the epidemic is relatively large, and by the high oil prices, declining demand and other factors, resulting in a peak season is not prosperous, commercial vehicle sales fell sharply year-on-year, which also led to a large increase in multi-cylinder diesel engine sales in March, although it achieved a substantial increase month-on-month, but there was still a significant decline year-on-year.
In March this year, multi-cylinder diesel engines sold 456,200 units, an increase of 39.2% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 28.83%; from January to March, the cumulative sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines were 1.1722 million units, down 29.42% year-on-year. In the first quarter of this year, the top ten diesel engine companies in terms of sales volume were Weichai, Yuchai, Quanchai, Yunnei, Xinchai, Jiefang Power, Jiangling, Foton Cummins, Dongfeng Cummins, shanghai new power, and the cumulative sales of the top ten accounted for 76.69% of the total sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines, a slight increase compared with last month.

The above table shows that in the first quarter of 2022, Weichai sold 172,300 multi-cylinder diesel engines, ranking first in the industry, with a market share of 14.7%. Yuchai returned to second place, up one place from the previous month, with cumulative sales of 130,300 units in the first quarter, taking 11.12% of the market share. The third place Quanchai is still the only one among the top ten companies that can achieve contrarian growth, with cumulative sales of 124,300 units in the first quarter, achieving a year-on-year increase of 7.2% and a market share of 10.6%, compared with the same period last year, the market share increased by 3.64%. The top three are the only companies with double-digit market share.
The fourth place, Yunnei, had cumulative sales of 116,000 units in the first quarter, with a market share of 9.9%. The fifth place is Xinchai, whose ranking has risen by one place compared with last month, which is also the first time that Xinchai has entered the top five of the industry this year. Xinchai's cumulative sales in the first quarter were 84,800 units, with a market share of 7.23%, an increase of 1.85% compared with the same period last year.

In March, sales of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles were 207,800 units, up 29.73% month-on-month and 44.2% year-on-year, and cumulative sales in the first quarter were 552,100 units, down 44.43% year-on-year. The top ten sales volume are Weichai, Jiangling, Yunnei, Futian Cummins, Quanchai, Jiefang Power, Yuchai, Shanghai New Power, JIANGHUAI, Dongfeng Cummins, and the top ten sales account for 87.58% of the total sales volume.

According to the above table, the cumulative sales volume of champion Weichai in the first quarter was 86,500 units, and the market share was 15.66%. Runner-up Jiangling's cumulative sales in the first quarter were 67,200 units, with a market share of 12.17%, an increase of 3.53% compared with the same period last year, and it is one of the companies with a large increase in share. The first and second places in the cumulative sales ranking in the first quarter were unchanged from the previous February, but the third place in the first quarter was obtained by Yunnei, which ranked sixth in the industry in the previous February, and through the excellent performance in March, Yunnei jumped up three places. In the first quarter, Yunnei sold 57,600 units of multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles, accounting for 10.44% of the market share, an increase of 1.46% compared with the same period last year.
Fourth-place Foton Cummins sold 52,500 vehicles in the first quarter, with a market share of 9.51%, and its market share also increased slightly compared with the same period last year. The fifth place Quanchai is still "maverick" in the top ten enterprises, with cumulative sales of 50,500 units in the first quarter, achieving a year-on-year increase of 29.45% and winning 9.15% of the market share, compared with the same period of the year, the share of quanchai increased by 5.24%, the highest increase among the top ten enterprises.
In addition, Shanghai New Power has also achieved a ranking increase. In the first quarter, Shanghai New Power sold 24,800 multi-cylinder diesel engines for commercial vehicles, accounting for 4.49% of the market share, an increase of 1.14% compared with the same period last year, and its market ranking also rose from ninth in february to 8th in March.
