On April 12, WEY, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor, announced that due to the sharp increase in the prices of raw materials, chips and core components, the official guidance price of some models on the coffee series on sale will be raised by 5,000 yuan to 12,000 yuan, which will take effect on April 15.

Wei Pai was born in 2016, named after the surname of Wei Jianjun, the helmsman, whose positioning at the time was mainly to alleviate the pressure on the low-end market and seek a higher brand premium, and was also one of the first members of the new three major sectors of the Great Wall (WEY, Euler, and Tank). In 2018, Great Wall Motors also signed world football superstar C Luo to endorse Wei Pai.

However, due to frequent quality problems and fewer models, Weipai's sales continued to be sluggish. From 2018 to 2021, Weipai handed over 139,000, 100,000, 79,000 and 58,000 vehicles respectively, showing a decline for three consecutive years. The high-end brand of Geely, Lynk & Co, which came out a year later, sold 220,000 in 2021 alone, close to the sum of the sales volume of Weipai in the next 3 years.

Not only that, weipai released data the day before showed that its overall sales in March were 4755 units, of which the first month of the mocha DHT-PHEV sales were only 519. Although Great Wall Motor's car sales in March fell by 8.9% year-on-year to only 100,900 units, weipai sales data accounted for less than 5%, which will indeed not have much impact on the overall performance of Great Wall Motors.

A well-known car inquiry platform shows that Weipai currently has five models on sale, all of which are SUV types, and the price ranges from more than 100,000 to 300,000, of which Mocha and Macchido have a mixed plug power model for sale.
