According to the data, in March this year, the production and sales of automobiles were 2.241 million units and 2.234 million units, down 9.1% and 11.7% year-on-year, and up 23.4% and 28.4% month-on-month. From January to March, production and sales totaled 6.484 million units and 6.509 million units, up 2.0% and 0.2% year-on-year.
Production and sales of passenger cars fell slightly year-on-year, and the market share of Chinese brand passenger cars increased
In March, production and sales of passenger cars totaled 1.881 million units, up 22.4% and 25.1% month-on-month, down 0.1% and 0.6% year-on-year, respectively, from increase to decrease compared to the previous month.
From the specific data, the production and sales of passenger cars and cross-type passenger cars increased year-on-year, of which the year-on-year increase in production and sales of cross-type passenger cars was the most prominent, with an increase of 39.4% and 34.1% respectively; the production and sales of SUVs and MPVs decreased year-on-year.
Production and sales of passenger cars totaled 5.499 million units in January-March, up 11.0% y/y, and sales totaled 5.545 million units, up 9.0% y/y.
In March, sales of high-end brand passenger cars produced in China reached 273,000 units, down 14.3% year-on-year, a decline greater than that of passenger cars as a whole. From January to March, the sales volume of high-end brand passenger cars produced in China reached 929,000 units, an increase of 7.4% year-on-year, an increase of 1.6 percentage points lower than that of passenger cars as a whole.
It is worth mentioning that in March, The sales volume of Chinese brand passenger cars was 904,000 units, an increase of 21.5% year-on-year, and the market share was 48.5%, up 8.8 percentage points; the sales of Chinese brand passenger cars from January to March were 2.547 million units, an increase of 21.0% year-on-year, and the market share was 45.9%, up 4.6 percentage points.
From January to March, the top 10 companies in terms of automobile sales sold a total of 5.586 million units, down 0.5% year-on-year and accounting for 85.8% of total automobile sales. It is worth noting that in the first quarter of this year, the cumulative sales volume of new car manufacturers was 342,000 units, an increase of 131.4% year-on-year, and the market share reached 5.3%, up 3 percentage points year-on-year.
New energy vehicles continued to maintain rapid growth year-on-year
In March, production and sales of new energy vehicles totaled 465,000 units, up 114.8% y/y, up 114.8% y/y, respectively. Among them, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 376,000 units and 395,000 units, respectively, the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 89,000 units and 88,000 units, respectively, and the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were completed 500 units and 367 units, respectively.
From January to March, production and sales of new energy vehicles totaled 1.293 million units and 1.257 million units, up 142.0% and 138.6% year-on-year, respectively. Among them, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 1.036 million units and 1.007 million units, respectively, the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 256,000 units and 249,000 units, respectively, and the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 856 units and 738 units, respectively.
Automobile exports increased by 28.8% year-on-year in March, maintaining rapid growth
In March, 170,000 vehicles were exported, down 5.5% month-on-month and 28.8% year-on-year. By model, passenger car exports in March were 121,000 units, down 17.1% month-on-month, up 21.8% year-on-year, and commercial vehicle exports were 49,000 units, up 43.3% month-on-month and 49.8% year-on-year.
From January to March, 582,000 vehicles were exported, up 58.3% year-on-year. By model, passenger car exports increased by 61.9% y/y to 452,000 units, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 47.2% y/y to 130,000 units.
Due to the epidemic and rising raw material prices and other factors, the production and sales of passenger cars in March fell slightly year-on-year, but it is worth noting that the market share of Chinese brand passenger cars in March was 48.5%, accounting for almost half of the share, an increase of 8.8 percentage points compared with the same period last year. In addition, the sales of new energy vehicles in March still showed a high-speed upward trend. According to the data, in March, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 465,000 units and 484,000 units, respectively, an increase of 114.8% and 114.1% year-on-year, respectively.
