Test drive Haval H6S: there is control, sporty temperament to hold in place

In the domestic SUV market, Haval H6 has a high status in the jianghu, it has a series of labels such as "monthly sales exceeding 80,000", "cumulative 99-month sales champion", "national god car" and so on.

The hot sales of Haval H6, to some extent, benefit from its "stable" and "practical" product characteristics, which has attracted a large number of "post-70s-80s" consumers. However, with the increasing youth of the consumer group, the Haval H6 family, which was "moderate family" in the past, needs a remodeling/upgrading for the "post-90s" young generation of consumers. Based on this, the Haval H6S officially debuted.

If you only look at the name, most people will assume that the Haval H6S is a sporty version of the H6, but in fact, as the first coupe SUV of the Haval brand under the Great Wall Lemon platform, the Haval H6S, is very different from the Haval H6 (the third generation) in appearance.

Fierce front face + coupe body, the appearance is delicious enough

The front face design of Haval H6S is inspired by sharks, and the overall design adopts a layered "one big and one small" double grille, small grille + shark tooth-shaped large intake grille, which has a strong sense of three-dimensionality and also creates a fierce visual effect. At the same time, with shark-eye-like LED headlights and exaggerated downbar shape, the front face of the H6S is fresh compared with other Haval brand models, which is in stark contrast to the stable style of the H6.

Of course, as a coupe SUV model, the Haval H6S has a more interesting highlight: the slipback design. With the blessing of the "shark aesthetic", the side of the Haval H6S looks tough through the appearance of the sports kit and sharp lines. A more special place is that many coupe SUVs start to slide from the B-pillar, but the Haval H6S's sneaking back starts from the C-pillar, which is obviously to win more head space for the rear row.

In terms of body size, the Haval H6S has a length, width and height of 4727/1940/1729mm and a wheelbase of 2738mm. The 4727mm is longer than the Haval H6, and the height and wheelbase are basically the same as the Haval H6, but the chassis height is reduced by 10mm. That is to say, while retaining the practicality of traditional SUVs, the Haval H6S is more sporty and more personalized than the H6.

In fact, the rear of the Haval H6S has a more violent visual impact on me than the front and sides. First of all, it adopts a double-tail design - there is an exaggerated traditional tail design behind the roof, and there is also a cocked ducktail in the middle, with a rectangular bilateral exhaust enveloping design (2.0T model), which further enhances the sporty atmosphere of the whole vehicle. However, one thing to say is that the Haval H6S does not use the more popular through-type taillight design, and the taillights look more traditional.

The interior changes less, but more sporty

Although the exterior of the Haval H6S has undergone a "drastic" transformation, you will find that the interior is still a familiar taste when you enter the car. First of all, the overall layout of the Haval H6S interior is basically the same as that of the third-generation H6, and the center console is more layered.

Through the air conditioner outlet, the entire center console is divided into two, above is a 10.25-inch LCD instrument + 12.3-inch suspension central control screen, below is a simple gear shift area, the entire center console has few physical buttons, and at the same time uses a knob-type gear shift mechanism, so it feels more concise and stylish. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the wireless charging function of the mobile phone equipped with the haval H6S series is very convenient to use, especially for young consumers.

The difference with the third-generation H6 is that the interior atmosphere of the H6S is more sporty. First, the door panels and center consoles are embellished with carbon fiber grain and ubiquitous fluorescent green trims, including seat belts. Secondly, the Haval H6S uses integrated racing seats and creates the interior atmosphere of a performance car through the stitching of leather and fur.

At the same time, the rear seats also use an integrated headrest design, which is relatively rare in the same class, indicating that the Haval H6S really wants to highlight its sporty tone. Of course, as mentioned earlier, the H6S's sneakback roof began to slide in the C-pillar, so the rear space in the car did not "shrink" with the improvement of the sense of movement, and the seat padding was soft and hard, and the comfort of riding was very guaranteed.

2.0T+7DCT, powered and controlled

The Haval H6S comes in two power configurations – the 2.0T fuel version and the Lemon DHT hybrid with a 1.5T+ motor, and this time we test-drive the 2.0T+7DCT fuel version.

This 2.0T engine is actually the well-known Great Wall 4N20 engine, with a maximum power of 155kW and a peak torque of 325N·m (close to the EA888's 2.0T high power). By optimizing the combustion chamber and intake tract design, it has achieved a compression ratio of 12:1, and used technologies such as Miller circulation to achieve a thermal efficiency of 38% of the whole machine.

The engine-matched 7DCT dual-clutch transmission is used a lot on Haval models, so there is a thick accumulation in tuning. Although this powertrain regular version of the Haval H6 is also in use, the H6S's tuning style is different, because in addition to the standard, sporty, economical and other driving modes, it also has a unique track mode, which is also suitable for the test driving experience of this curved road line.

In the standard mode, you will find that the powertrain of this 2.0T+7DCT is well matched, the overall driving experience is similar to that of the third-generation H6, the starting response is more sensitive, and the power connection is relatively coherent when accelerating in the middle and rear sections, even if it is a dual-clutch transmission, it basically does not feel obvious frustration in the daily use scenario.

Of course, the biggest difference between Haval H6S and H6 is the "track mode", in fact, the opening of the track mode is very simple, just need to press the "*" shortcut key on the right side of the steering wheel, at this time the exhaust will automatically enter the sport mode, there is a clear sound wave, it sounds like there will be a performance car atmosphere.

At the same time, the 7DCT will become very aggressive - a little more aggressive than expected, with more than 3,000 rpm per gear change, but the gear changes are fast, there is almost no semi-linkage state, so it will be very sneaky to drive, and a little throttle H6S will jump forward, like a wild horse. To be honest, if it weren't for this particular "driving scenario", the daily H6S would still recommend the sport mode - it is neither as grumpy as the track mode, nor as Buddhist as the standard or economic model.

In terms of suspension, the Haval H6S uses a front McPherson, rear multi-link independent suspension structure, and in order to match the aggressive "track mode", its overall center of gravity is reduced by 10mm compared to the H6, and the stability of the front and rear suspensions is enhanced, improving roll control while taking into account understeering, while strengthening chassis support. Although this does not feel obvious in everyday driving, on mountain roads, it will be found that the roll is better controlled, and the faster cornering body will not have excess shaking.

In addition, the steering responsiveness of the Haval H6S in cornering driving is also good, there is basically no vacancy, and the steering ratio in track mode is not large, basically many corners can be passed without alternating hands.

epilogue:

It is not difficult to see that compared with other models of the H6 family, the sport and performance label of Haval H6S is very obvious, not only the sporty interior and exterior design, but also the radical sporty adjustment, so for young consumers who hold more than 100,000 yuan and want to buy a sporty, personality, and word-of-mouth SUV model, Haval H6S is a good choice.
