Wang Pet (1494-1533), Chinese calligrapher of the Ming Dynasty. Zi Luren and Lu Ji were from Yayishan, a native of Wu County (now part of Suzhou, Jiangsu). Wang's poems and paintings are exquisite. Although later, with the change of calligraphy aesthetic taste, Wang Pet pursued a sparse and elegant style of calligraphy, and wanted to try his best to get rid of the influence of Zhu Yunming and Li Huailin, but until the later period, the "flowing" atmosphere of his calligraphy could not be eliminated. Try to compare its "Seven Absolute Two Songs" with Zhu Yunming's calligraphy to find that the pen is greatly pressed, the words are drawn between the wires, the posture changes are varied, and the typical characteristics of Zhu's calligraphy "flowing and falling" are vaguely retained.
Wang Shizhen praised Wang's calligraphy in his later years as "small and sparse in body and rotten in heaven and bone, with a horizontal posture and a mighty trend." It's a lot of admiration. And as the contradictory unity of wandering and neglecting, how can Wang Pet's calligraphy in his later years not be the externalization of his indignant and diluted contradictory state of mind? ——The separation and contradiction between real life and personality ideals makes him feel indignant in his heart, but he is high in the dust, but under the setbacks of illness and failure, he slowly becomes diluted and becomes a gentle and jade-like gentleman. However, the contradictions and pains in Wang Pet's heart and the feelings and helplessness that he exuded from the absence of talent were ultimately hidden in his reserved words. He wrote in the "Mountain Answer Toyuzi Heavy Book": "The mountains and forests are better than those of the generations, wandering on the lake, and forgetting to return... Quite procrastinating, a little tired of landing, then the left picture and the right book, and the ancients, even if they can't understand, the words will be heartfelt, wanran alone, hungry and eating, full and playful, life is suitable for the ear.
