During the Spring Festival, BYD, FAW Hongqi, and many new car-making forces have announced their sales results in January, which have generally ushered in a good start, especially BYD, which sold nearly 100,000 vehicles in January is indeed a surprise. Now that the working day of the Year of the Tiger has officially opened, Car companies such as Dongfeng Honda and SAIC Passenger Vehicle have also announced their january sales reports. Next, Brother Rumble brought the second bullet of January sales analysis, how is the sales performance of these car companies?

Dongfeng Honda: Steady growth, Yingshipai is surprising
Looking back at dongfeng Honda's performance in 2021, a total of 793272 vehicles were sold throughout the year, while the annual sales in 2020 exceeded 850,000 vehicles, which shows that the chip shortage has a very large impact on car companies. According to official data, Dongfeng Honda sold 77,385 vehicles in January, an increase of 107% over the same period (that is, an increase of 7% compared with January last year).
Specific to its models, the contribution of the Honda CR-V and Honda XR-V SUVs is very obvious, with sales exceeding 25,000 and 17,000 units in January, respectively, while the star model Civic sold more than 16,000 units in January, an increase of 18% year-on-year. It is worth noting that the brand's Yingshipai, in January, the terminal sales exceeded 10,000 vehicles, an increase of 61% year-on-year, and the market potential was gradually tapped. In addition, in terms of electrification, Dongfeng Honda sold a total of 9,728 vehicles in the new energy field in January, an increase of 27% year-on-year.
Honda CR-V, Honda XR-V and Civic performed more steadily, while the upgraded market performance of Yingshipai was indeed unexpected. Compared with the same level of Camry, Magotan, and sister model Accord, the product strength of Yingshipai is not bad, but it is not as well-known as this opponent, and Yingshipai (formerly known as "Siborui") can only be subordinated. However, after the upgrade, the Price-performance Ratio is higher than that of the Accord, and the comfort is not inferior to the players of the same level, and the sales volume naturally keeps up.
GAC Toyota Syna: Still in a climbing state
Compared with the sales of all models of the brand, GAC Toyota took the lead in announcing the January sales of its Xena. According to official data, Xena sold a total of 5,399 new cars in January, of which the 405,800 platinum version with the top accounted for 40% of the sales. As a key product of the brand, GAC Toyota Syna has received high attention before it was launched, but the monthly sales performance of 5399 vehicles is still some distance from the Buick GL8.
Brother Reel believes that from the perspective of the product itself, Sai Na is indeed very suitable for the needs of the grandfathers, and the comfort, space utilization and power performance are also excellent. However, at present, only GAC Toyota is in production, with a monthly output of only 6,000 vehicles, plus the launch of faw Toyota version of Sai na this year, with a total monthly output of 12,000 vehicles, while the average monthly sales of competitor Buick GL8 have reached 12,000 units, from a short-term point of view, it is difficult for Sai Na to shake the market position of Buick GL8.
Compared with cars and SUVs, the demand for the MPV market is not large, and the popularity of Xena's competitors Buick GL8, Odyssey and other models is too widespread, coupled with the controversy of "raising the price to pick up the car", such market performance is indeed reasonable.
SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicles: New energy, overseas markets hit new highs
According to official data, SAIC Motor's terminal sales of passenger cars in January were 86,000 units, up 10.2% year-on-year and 20.9% month-on-month, setting a record high for the same period of history. Specific to the brand, the performance of SAIC Roewe and MG brands is very eye-catching, and the terminal sales of roewe i5, Roewe RX5, MG ZS, MG5 have exceeded 10,000.
The growth momentum of new energy can not be ignored, with a net increase of 79.2% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 34.9%, and terminal sales in January were 14,400 vehicles, ranking first in the domestic market. Brother Yuan learned that SAIC's sales of passenger cars and new energy vehicles ranked seventh in the world and fourth in China last year. Overseas markets are even more successful, with export sales of 20,000 units in January, an increase of 67.8% year-on-year. It is reported that MG eHS ranks in the top five in sales in the Swedish market, and was also selected as the best-selling new car model in Australia in 2021.
Looking back at the performance of SAIC Passenger Cars last year, the retention rate of Roewe and MG brands has achieved positive growth for many consecutive months, of which Roewe rose 11%, and its Roewe Ei5, Roewe RX5 ePLUS and other models also topped the market segment list. According to the plan, SAIC Passenger Cars' high-end brand Feifan Automobile will have a number of models launched, and with the help of Feifan Automobile, SAIC Passenger Vehicles is expected to impact millions of annual sales in 2022.
Volvo: Sales of electrified products pick up
According to official data, Volvo sold 14,579 vehicles in China in January, of which 3,211 Volvo S60s were sold, up 22% year-on-year, and RECHARGE models increased by 28% year-on-year. It is worth noting that in January, 15,071 RECHARGE models were sold worldwide, and sales increased by more than 50% year-on-year, setting a new monthly sales record, accounting for 31.7% of all models.
With the further deepening of the "new four modernizations" of automobiles, Volvo has increased its investment in the field of new energy. In the Chinese market, Volvo's 40, 60 and 90 series models all have electrified products, including pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrid models. At the beginning of 2021, Volvo announced that it will transition to electrification, fully electrified by 2025, only pure electric vehicles will be sold by 2030, and all models will be sold only online by 2040. As the first mass-produced pure electric SUV in the new strategic plan, volvo C40 Recharge has been officially released at last year's Guangzhou Auto Show.
From the perspective of market performance, Volvo's increased investment in the field of new energy has indeed achieved a lot of results, but it has to be admitted that the performance of Volvo pure electric vehicles in the domestic market is still very embarrassing, sales are not as good as many domestic models, and the brand influence is not as good as luxury brands such as BBA and Tesla. Therefore, if Volvo wants to occupy a place in the new energy vehicle market, the degree of difficulty is not low.
I have to say that these car companies that took the lead in announcing the results did usher in the "opening red", but we must note that due to the impact of chip shortage, many car companies did not perform well in january. Judging from the new car plans that have been announced, it is foreseeable that the competition in the major markets is very fierce. Of course, 2022 has only just begun, and there will be various unexpected opportunities and challenges in the car market, and then it depends on how major car companies respond.
