Cao Deyou, a native of Shangnan, joined the Shangnan County Cultural Volunteer Service Team after retirement, insisting on exerting his strengths, rescuing the intangible cultural heritage of his hometown, writing Shangnan folk songs, and volunteering to participate in cultural activities to benefit the people. He has written more than 100 folk songs in Shangnan and more than 30 old place names. On January 20, 2022, he was selected as the candidate for the fourth quarter of 2021.

Cao Deyou has loved folk songs and folk songs since he was a child, and at the age of eight, he learned to play flower drums and sing folk songs with adults, and at the age of 12, he mastered percussion instruments such as gongs, drums, and hi-hats, and memorized the playing methods of various folk songs. But in that era, hobbies, studies and careers did not fulfill his own wishes. As a result, after graduating from high school, Cao Deyou worked as a private teacher, worked as a self-employed household, and was later admitted to work in the supply and marketing system until his retirement in 2014.
After retirement, he lived in Shangnan County and joined the ranks of elderly activities out of his love of literature and art. Because of his expertise in literature and art and strong organizational skills, in 2017, he was appointed as the director of the Shangnan County Retired Cadres and Workers Activity Center. Since taking office, Cao De has a positive enthusiasm and personal efforts, building a platform for retired cadres and employees to learn, entertain, exercise and display their personal expertise, and with his appeal of selfless dedication and approachable personality, he has called on many retired cadres and workers to join the elderly activity center, so the "front" of Shangnan elderly activities has been continuously extended and expanded.

Cao De has a love of literature and art, and is one of the few all-rounders in the shangnan folk art team, he is not only proficient in folk literature and martial arts, but also good at blowing, pulling, playing, singing musical instruments, and is proficient in arranging literary and art programs, lyrics, composing music, writing poetry, prose, writing couplets, etc. More importantly, he is humble and helpful, full of enthusiasm and high responsibility for his work, coupled with his artistic innovation, appreciation ability and dedication spirit of planning and thinking, which highlights his personality charm.
Because of this, Cao De has held many positions since his retirement: "Director of Shangnan County Retired Cadre and Worker Activity Center", "Vocal Teacher of County University for the Elderly", "Correspondent of Literature and History of the County CPPCC Committee", "Cultural Volunteer of the County Cultural Center", "Vice President of the Loving Art Association", "Deputy Director of the Economic and Trade Committee of the Old Science and Technology Association", "Chairman of the Xianghe Poetry and Poetry Association" and so on.
Because Cao De has more part-time jobs, he has almost no leisure after retirement, not only to shuttle to the cultural center and related literary and art groups every day to participate, assist in rehearsal guidance, frequently go to the countryside to perform accompaniment, give lectures to the trainees of the training class of the university and cultural center for the elderly on time every week, and also organize and participate in related activities carried out by the Poetry Society and the Old Science association.
And almost all of this is pro bono service, voluntary dedication. But Cao Deyou took everything seriously as a normal job. In the past six years, as a cultural volunteer of the Cultural Center, he has not only cooperated with the Cultural Center to organize more than 90 performances (including urban areas) for the benefit of the people in the countryside, but also cooperated with the Cultural Center to do a lot of work in excavating and sorting out intangible cultural heritage.

In 2018, the Shangnan County Cultural Center organized the rural "Intangible Cultural Heritage Flower Bun" exhibition in Zhao Chuan and the Spring Festival Flower Lantern Exhibition organized in Wulipu in 2019, Cao Deyou combined with local customs, not only gave dozens of flower buns and hundreds of flower lanterns a good and auspicious name, but also made annotations on all the flower lantern programs, so that the participants and the audience can appreciate the fun of intangible cultural heritage.
Almost every time he performs, Cao Deyou plays the task of accompaniment to the electronic organ, which requires Cao Deyou to tirelessly carry dozens of pounds of electronic organs from the back of his fifth floor every time. In order to let more people learn to use the electronic organ, the cultural center has opened a free electronic organ training class, and Cao De has served as a teacher, and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, he conducts voluntary training for the electronic keyboard students.
In order to better disseminate Shangnan folk songs, Cao Deyou paid tens of thousands of yuan to make 8 episodes of Shangnan folk songs into videos and publish them on the online platform, which was not only widely praised by all sectors of society, but also left valuable information for rescue and inheritance of Shangnan folk culture. Cao De loves literature and art, but also loves to write, especially the five original songs published in recent years are composed by Lao Cao. Among them, Kong Shaoai, former deputy director of the Propaganda Department, sang "Song of Civilized Deer City" and "Lu feng luming" and sang Shangnan, becoming Shangnan's "representative works".
He has been awarded the honorary titles of "Excellent Literary and Historical Correspondent", "Advanced Individual in The County's Literary and Historical Work", "Advanced Individual in The County's Literary and Historical Work", "Advanced Cultural Volunteer", "Excellent Communist Party Member", "Advanced Individual of the Old Science and Technology Association" and other honorary titles by the CppcC of Shangnan County, the County Bureau of Culture and Broadcasting, the Cultural Center, the Party Committee of Xianghe Town and the County Old Science and Technology Association, and on January 20, 2022, he was selected as the candidate for the good people of Shangluo in the fourth quarter of 2021.
