On April 23, coinciding with the 27th World Book Day, the Library and Culture Center of Qingdao West Coast New Area Citizen Culture Center (Weihe Road) officially opened after nearly four months of trial operation. Due to the epidemic, there are no ribbon-cutting, curtain-opening and other ceremonies in the library, and there is no celebration of gongs and drums outside the library, and the colorful paper is flying, and this quiet opening of the library is just in harmony with the gentle temperament of books and the functionality of the library.
On the opening day, the Library and cultural hall jointly held a series of exciting reading promotion and cultural activities. In the library, "Reading Creates Beauty, Culture Leads the Future - Writers Exchange Symposium" invited well-known writers and scholars in the island city, Wen Fengqiao, Zhang Tong, Liu Yiqing and Cui Yan, to discuss reading, share their reading experience and experience, share the joy of reading, and conduct in-depth discussions on how to make children fall in love with reading. At the same time, the "Qindao Reading Club" leads the public to read red stories and feel the power of faith; the "365 Story House" tells wonderful picture book stories for children's readers; the "e-reading training" activity teaches middle-aged and elderly readers how to use computers to conduct simple reading and information inquiries; and the "Power of Reading" theme exhibition shows the charm of literature to the public.
In the cultural center, the citizens enjoyed a variety of cultural activities such as broadcast hosting teaching, piano teaching, square dance teaching, soft pen calligraphy teaching, and guzheng teaching. Citizens strolled through libraries and cultural centers, listened to special lectures, read classic books, participated in literary and art courses, and shared cultural feasts. A series of World Book Day activities with distinct themes and rich contents have presented the power of reading culture for the general public on the West Coast.
According to another report, on the opening day of the library, the library's public line was playing a small video of students from colleges and universities on the West Coast enthusiastically submitting articles and taking selfies of "Passing on National Treasures, Reciting Classic Epics - College Students Reciting 100 Classics of China". In the radio station "Reading the New Era, Striving for a New Journey -- Reading Party History and Reciting Classics", representatives of readers from all walks of life were telling the stories of the revolutionary struggle on the West Coast to the audience. The library and cultural center will take the official opening of the "423 World Book Day" as the starting point, send the best public cultural services to the general public, let the cultural activities such as reading for the whole people be more in-depth and expanded, meticulously integrate into the construction of spiritual civilization in the new district, and create a highlight cultural business card for the west coast.
It is understood that the Qingdao West Coast New Area Citizen Cultural Center (Weihe Road) Library and Culture Center is located in No. 517, Weihe Road, Xin'an Street, West Coast New Area, with a total area of about 11,800 square meters, and the library has more than 100,000 books in its existing collection; it has a number of reading and leisure spaces such as adult lending area, youth lending area, newspaper reading area, visually impaired reading room, multi-functional lecture hall, 24-hour urban study room, etc., which can accommodate 600 people reading in the library at the same time. The cultural center has more than 200 square meters of multi-functional performance halls, nearly 1,000 square meters of multi-functional exhibition halls, independent intangible cultural heritage exhibition halls, nearly 300 square meters of large and small dance rehearsal halls, digital experience rooms and various functional classrooms. The two museums provide book lending and cultural services based on digital service platforms, supported by intelligent and networked management, covering the whole district, to meet the reading, cultural experience, education, leisure and entertainment needs of surrounding citizens. Since the trial operation on December 31, 2021, the two museums have widely served the public and won a good social reputation.
