His wife Lu Xiaoman is also a talented woman, a native of Jiangsu, who can sing and dance, and is good at calligraphy and painting, and the unfortunate thing is that Xu Zhimo was killed in Jinan by plane on November 19, 1931.

He and Lu Xiaoman have no children. After liberation, Lu Xiaoman was single, living in Shanghai, living an extremely poor and frugal life.
In the autumn of 1950, Shanghai held the first exhibition of calligraphy and painting, and the neighborhood committee encouraged Lu Xiaoman to send a few works to try, but two were selected. On the opening day, Shanghai Mayor Chen Yi and his wife Zhang Qian were invited to visit, and Chen Yi stopped in front of Lu Xiaoman's works to gaze for a long time, and even called them good paintings. Looking at the author again, the author was Lu Xiaoman, and he said to the accompanying personnel: This person was known as Tang Ying in the south and Lu Xiaoman in the north. Later, he told Zhang Qian: "In the past, when I was studying at the Sino-French University in Shanghai, I listened to Mr. Xu Zhimo's lectures many times, and according to the generations, this Lu Xiaoman is still my teacher's mother!" ”

Due to Chen Yi's care and Lu Xiaoman's talent, Lu Xiaoman was recruited as a member of the Shanghai Artists Association, hired as a counselor of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government Counselor's Office, and received a free medical card from Huadong Hospital. In 1956, the Shanghai Academy of Painting was established, and Lu Xiaoman was hired by the academy as a painter. Her salary was paid by the counsellor's office, which made her life safe in her later years.
This talented woman of the Republic of China, a modern female painter, died of illness in 1965 and was buried in the Shanghai All-World Cemetery.
