The memorial burial ceremony of Academician Wu Mengchao and his wife Professor Wu Peiyu, the "Father of Hepatobiliary Surgery in China", was held today (20th) in Shanghai Fushou Garden.
In the dynamic visual scene of "Wu Mengchaoxing" created by the immersive digital ceremony hall of the Humanities Memorial Hall, the first cross-time and space funeral in the digital universe in China was presented movingly. Through the holographic virtual portrait, coupled with the sound of technical means reproduction, Academician Wu Mengchao's voice and smile were once again displayed, so that his students, assistants, nurse colleagues and other people at the scene could have a time-space dialogue with him, answering the subject exploration, hospital construction, staff care and other issues that he was most concerned about before his death.
The "Academician Wu Mengchao Digital Memorial Hall" was also officially opened, which is also the first digital interactive memorial hall with the theme of humanistic commemoration in China. The memorial hall is divided into six digital exhibition halls, such as "Bo Gui", "Preaching", and "Baozi", which reproduce the spiritual home of Academician Wu Mengchao's dedication to the cause of Chinese hepatobiliary medicine. Visitors can pay attention to the "Commemoration on the Cloud" public account to enter the museum, through time shuttle, space experience, sound and photoelectric interaction and other high-tech ways, from a first-person perspective to re-walk Wu Lao's return from Malaysia in 1940, the completion of the 14280th surgery on his 90th birthday and other important moments in his life, to understand the stories and details behind various honors and experiences, and to present the memorial statue online.
In addition, the digital collection "Wu Mengchao's autographed English-Chinese Dictionary" was also released in limited quantities on the same day. This English-Chinese dictionary has accompanied Academician Wu Mengchao throughout his life, there is only one entity, and after communicating with Academician Wu's family, Fushouyun Life Information Technology has specially produced 100 digital collections. Collectors can pay attention to the "Commemoration on the Cloud" public account to receive digital collections, so that love and respect can be passed on permanently in the digital space.
On the same day, the spirit box of Academician Wu Mengchao and his wife Professor Wu Peiyu was buried in the Wind lotus garden of Shanghai Fushou Garden, and the commemorative statues of the two were unveiled at the same time.
Wu Mengchao is the pioneer and main founder of hepatobiliary surgery in mainland China, the first doctor in China to win the national high-tech award, and has shocked the international medical community with his experience of treating 181 cases of primary liver cancer and the total surgical success rate of 91.2% between 1960 and 1977.
He studied under Qiu Fazu, a famous Chinese physician and "father of Chinese surgery", creatively proposed the anatomical theory of "five leaves and four segments", established the liver hemostasis technology of "intermittent hepatic hilar blockade at room temperature", successfully performed a series of landmark surgeries represented by middle hepatic lobectomy, and led the establishment of the world's largest hepatobiliary disease diagnosis and treatment center and scientific research base, established the world's largest liver cancer pathology specimen bank, and cultivated the most outstanding talents in the field of hepatobiliary surgery.
Wu Mengchao has been practicing medicine for 75 years, has been in charge of more than 16,000 surgeries, treated more than 20,000 patients, and officially retired at the age of 97, passing away on May 22, 2021 at the age of 99.
