A life history in remembrance

Lin Bai's new work "North Stream" inherits the previous personal writing style, further showing the rich and complex micro-world life history. The story of the non-linear narrative extends from her autobiographical narration to the writer's mother, brother, and relatives and friends in the growing journey. Their sorrows, joys, and sorrows, wind and rain, are condensed through the fragmented flow of life in the small county town of Beiliu, the hometown of the writer's body and soul.

This novel of hundreds of thousands of words is always pouring out time and memory, the two major components of this spiritual form. As the scholar Ji Hongzhen points out, "In its essence, all writing is reminiscence. Therefore, as a subjective form of time, the essence of recollection is to fight against the passage of time, a way of self-consolidation. As an excellent writer in the contemporary literary world, Lindbergh naturally knows how to use solid detailed descriptions to construct real and credible memories, or memories. The work tirelessly writes about a variety of dishes with local characteristics, the detailed preparation of snacks, and even the fresh and flavorful taste. There is also liang yuanzhao, a mother who has been widowed twice, and her tenacious character far exceeds that of all her children, wading through the storms and waves of life again and again. The diligent life of the mother in her later years and the meticulous care of her daily life, in the pen of the writer's daughter Li Yuedou, reflect the desire for a better life that was born as a human being. Just like Yuanzhao's favorite Indonesian folk song "Thoreau River", "Your source comes from Solo, and the Mountains send you all the way", the simple, timeless and profound lyrics overflow with the most authentic pursuit of goodness and eternity of human nature, a view of life that pursues the meaning of survival in daily life.

Lin Bai once wrote about the living conditions and spiritual world of many deceased people in her Beiliu series of essays. Comparative reading, obviously forms an intertextual relationship with the characters in the novel, which can be regarded as the prototype of the characters in the novel. Some of these characters in life cannot go to school or work for historical reasons, and they have traveled to Xinjiang alone and experienced a turbulent and complicated but abundant life; some have been a generation of celebrities on the stage of the county, have a glorious life, and return to plain old age and live a life; there are also writers' classmates and friends, old neighbors, their living environment, living conditions, and daily ecology, which are also faithfully recorded by Lin Bai's delicate brushstrokes. The group life of those unit dormitories, the short and long flights outside the home, the sour, sweet and bitter, is undoubtedly the physical form of time and memory in the river of human growth.

There are many dreamlike story fragments, scenes and memories of the interlacing of virtual reality in "North Stream", and even a certain sense of magic on the stage of life. This fusion of real memories and fictional dreams is naturally a source of inspiration for a sensitive and thoughtful writer. Lin Bai has a unique and keen vision of observing things and the world since she was a child, and her inner personality can often transform the loneliness and loneliness of childhood and even trauma into the most delicate and subtle and closest to the divine aura of literary creation. The development of this new long story still focuses on Guangxi in the 1960s and 1990s, which is also the most colorful golden age of Lin Bai's generation, full of unknowns, uncertainties and explorations. The setbacks of the big times are hidden in Lindbergh's novels, and the management of daily life is the main tide of life.

Female writers such as Lindbergh have been given the title of "private writing", highlighting the subjectivity of the self. Through "North Stream", we see that behind the label, she has accumulated her profound life experience and sufficient accumulation of knowledge. Only by using all this as a basis can we fully express the subjectivity of the individual and the recognition of everything in the world. However, "North Stream" does not have the sense of emptiness and boredom of some modern novels that flaunt personality at the moment, and the writer's solid and profound life experience and li Yuedou's thoughts in the text constitute a historical echo.
