Haye Hutong Town, belonging to Jiuyuan District, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the west of Jiuyuan District, the southern foothills of Wula Mountain, connected to Buhantu Town of Kun District in the east, the Dalat Banner Zhaojun Tomb Town of Ordos City across the river in the south, the Former Banner of Urat in Bayannaoer City in the west, and the Agarutai Sumu in the north. The total area is 214 km².

As early as the Qing Dynasty, Haye Hutong belonged to the Xigong Banner, and the land belonged to the Mongolian noble lamas of meili geng temple.

At the beginning of the founding of New China, the territory of Haye Hutong Town was divided into two parts, the southern part was divided into Xin'an Township, and the northern part was divided into Meiligen Township.

In May 1958, The Commune of Haye Hutong was established here, which belonged to the former banner of Urat in Bayannur City.

In April 1964, it was divided from wuqian banner and assigned to Kun district.

In July 1961, it was reassigned to the suburbs.

In September 1984, it was changed from a commune to Haye Hutong Township.

In March 2002, it was changed to Haye Hutong Town.

Major geographical names

Haye Hutong Village: Haye Hutong, Mongolian, meaning two-eyed well. It is named after the original two wells in the village.

Ulanji: Because there is an artemisia grass growing in this area, it is called "Ulanji" in Mongolian, hence the name. In 1985, it belonged to Haye BrainBao Township.

Xinsheng Village: In 1958, it belonged to the Forward Production Brigade, and in 1969, it was established independently as the Xinsheng Production Brigade, which is still in use today.
