According to the latest statistics of the Association of Passenger Vehicles, the annual wholesale sales of domestic narrow passenger cars in 2021 reached 21.098 million units, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year (the growth rate in 2020 was -6.3%), the market sales were expected, due to the lack of cores and the impact of factors such as the momentum of the epidemic in many places throughout the year, production and sales were affected to a certain extent, with the continuous improvement of the supply side in the fourth quarter, production and sales climbed, and inventory began to bottom out, preparing for peak season sales.

Retail sales ranking of passenger car manufacturers for December and full year 2021

According to the latest retail sales statistics of the Association, the retail sales of narrow passenger cars reached 2.105 million units in December, down 7.9% year-on-year and 15.9% month-on-month. Cumulative sales for the full year of 2021 reached 20.146 million units, up 4.4% year-on-year.

This month, the total retail sales of the TOP15 car companies were 1.576 million units, and the market concentration was 74.8%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points over the previous month.

German cars (two): FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen achieved the first and third place results respectively. In December, the German car market share was 14.1%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the previous month, and the German brand was still in the adjustment period.

Japanese cars (five): The market share was 23.2%, an increase of 1.7 percentage points over the previous month. The rankings of the five Japanese companies are approaching, and the overall sales scale of The Two Fields is increasing, with The first time that the Twin Toyota exceeded 100,000 units in a single month, and the Double Honda also exceeded 80,000 units.

U.S. cars (two): Market share was 8.2%, up 2.7 percentage points from the previous month. Tesla surged 196.6 percent this month.

Independent brands (six): Market share of 29.3%, down 3.7 percentage points from the previous month. Geely Automobile dominated the second place; Great Wall Motors scored fourth for the first time, with BYD soaring 77.8%, becoming a big winner in the new energy list.

FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC-Volkswagen and SAIC-GM remain the top 3 in domestic narrow passenger car retail sales. Geely Automobile, Dongfeng Nissan and Changan Automobile are closely followed. Overall evaluation of the market characteristics of this year: market concentration and entry threshold are both improving; electric vehicles, intelligent network vehicles have become market highlights; new car-making forces have entered the 10,000-vehicle club, traditional car companies in the rapid transformation, in 2022 the domestic car market will be a big arena for new energy vehicles.
