According to the China Automobile Association, the annual sales of new energy vehicles in China will exceed 3.5 million units in 2021, an increase of nearly 160% year-on-year, and the market penetration rate will increase to 13.4%. Previously, in 2020, China's new energy vehicle sales were 1.367 million units, an increase of 10.9% year-on-year, and the penetration rate was 5.4%. The China Automobile Association expects that the sales volume of new energy vehicles in China will reach 5 million units in 2022, an increase of 42% year-on-year, and the market penetration rate is expected to exceed 18%.
Ma Lin, head of corporate communications at Weilai, said that the significant increase in the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is because on the one hand, the product strength of new energy vehicles has begun to surpass the same price range of fuel vehicles, on the other hand, with the gradual improvement of the whole society's energy supplement system, the use experience of electric vehicles is getting better and better. In 2022, the new power car companies and many traditional car companies are expected to have more than 200 new products enter the market, and the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the new year is expected to continue to increase rapidly.
Guotai Junan's latest research report said that looking forward to 2022, with the gradual easing of automotive chip supply, the successive launch of new models by traditional car companies and new forces, and the further improvement of the sense of new energy driving experience under the background of intelligence, it is expected that China's new energy vehicle sales will exceed 5.5 million units in 2022, completing the penetration target of nearly 20% ahead of schedule.
