CES, whose full name is the International Consumer Electronics Exhibition, doesn't seem to have much to do with cars, especially vehicles. However, in the era of electrification, cars and electronic intelligence have long been inseparable, so at CES, more and more traditional car brands or new brands have begun to release and display new models, bringing new technologies.
So what brand new models can we see at CES 2022?
Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX
Highlights: 1000 km endurance; wind resistance coefficient Cd 0.17
The first new car in 2022 is the Vision EQXX from Mercedes-Benz
Long before CES, Mercedes-Benz successfully grabbed the headline position in the global car circle with EQXX. Of course, this is not because it is fast, but because it is long.
The biggest highlights of the EQXX come from the 1000 km cruising range and the ultra-low drag coefficient of Cd 0.17. According to Mercedes-Benz's simulation tests, the EQXX equipped with a 100kWh battery pack can control the average power consumption at 10kWh per 100 kilometers, which is much lower than the current mass production car.
And in order to achieve ultra-low energy consumption, Mercedes-Benz has also significantly reduced the size and weight of the EQXX battery pack. Taking the EQS that has been mass-produced as an example, the EQXX equipped with a similar battery capacity has only half the size of the battery pack and the weight has also been reduced by 30%. Coupled with the smaller body size, the EQXX weighs only 1.75 tons, which is comparable to the similar size of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
In addition, the interior of EQXX also uses an ultra-wide screen with a size of 47.5 inches and a resolution of 8K, and the highlight is that the built-in MBUX navigation system can bring you the visual sense of playing open world games.
Although the overall design of EQXX is very close to mass production, there is a four-door McLaren Speedtail visual sense, but its mass production still needs to wait until 2 to 3 years later, it is still quite long. After all, the thinking of car companies is now so jumpy, will the mass-produced EQXX in a few years be out of sight?
BMW iX M60
Highlights: The first pure electric SUV of the M series; color-changing car paint
Compared with Mercedes-Benz, BMW is really a lot. A production model was brought to CES 2022, the M version of the iX, the iX M60, which was also the first mass-produced pure electric SUV model in the M series.
Since it is a Station M, performance has become the most noteworthy change for the iX M60. Compared with the previous highest positioning 50 version, although the M60 still adopts the layout of the front and rear dual motors, the motor power has been greatly improved. The total power of the system has been increased from 385 kW to 455 kW, and the peak torque has reached 1100 N·m. The power data surpassed the BMW X5 M and became the most powerful SUV in BMW at present.
However, compared with the differences between other M series models and the universal version, the iX M60 can be said to be no different from the iX in terms of appearance and styling, but it will have a more M feeling in the brake system, shock absorption adjustment and simulated sound.
Of course, BMW also showed a very interesting function in the live display, the color-changing paint. The effect is still quite cool, it is said that it also supports optional packaging, but the domestic do not want to think, color change is the need to file, this one-second color change function is not to be imagined.
In addition, as a mass production model, the iX M60 also announced the pricing of the Chinese market immediately after its release, which only needed 996,900 yuan. Compared with the operation that other models enter the M department and the value immediately doubles, the pricing of iX is still quite thick.
After all, pure electric vehicles, the cost of increasing the motor power can be much more affordable than four cylinders for eight cylinders, such a premium should be acceptable to everyone.
Sony VISION-S 02
Highlights: Sony is really going to build a car
At CES 2020 2 years ago, Sony released a concept car VISION-S for the first time. It is said to be a concept car, but apart from the electronic rearview mirrors, the VISION-S has almost no concept car appearance.
At CES 2022 2 years later, vision-S is still a concept car, but it has one more brother, vision-S 02 concept car.
Vision-S and VISION-S 02 are like tesla model 3 and model Y, the latter is the former SUV version, except for the raised body proportions and bulging C-pillars, the two are no different.
But there is a saying, the side of vision-S 02 is really a little strange, Sony's aesthetic is not very good this time, can you let Magna rework it?
As for the vehicle itself, Sony is still very "traditional", and does not advocate screen quality or sound effects, but it is said that the rear screen can play PS games, and the otaku is ecstatic. In addition, like other pure electric vehicles, Sony is also focused on intelligence. This includes connected vehicles and autonomous driving. The VISION-S 02 will be equipped with more than 40 sensors to ensure the vehicle's ability to drive autonomously. That Sony's camera or sensor, everyone understands, the level of the big guy in the industry, it is worth looking forward to.
Of course, the more important information is that Sony will officially establish Sony Cars in the spring of 2022, which also means that VISION-S and VISION-S 02 will move from concept to mass production, and Sony is really going to build cars!
Chevrolet Sorod EV
Highlights: Aotene platform
Since the launch of the Aotene platform, GM's electrification process has been getting smoother.
For the Chinese market, the most anticipated model is cadillac's LYRIQ, and for American consumers, the expectation value of pure electric pickup trucks will be higher.
So at CES 2022, Chevrolet brought the first pure electric PickupSolod EV based on the Aotene platform. Since it is a full-size pickup truck for the Aoteneng platform, the settings of the Sorod EV are actually completely in line with the higher positioning Hummer EV.
For example, air suspension, four-wheel steering, external power supply and other configurations are consistent with the Hummer EV. As for the power part, the Sorod EV adopts a dual-motor layout with a maximum power of 495kW, which is not exaggerated compared to the three motors of the Hummer EV.
However, the acceleration time of 0-60 miles is still 4.5 seconds, and in terms of range, the Solod EV will have more than the Hummer EV, with a maximum range of 400 miles (about 644 kilometers).
In terms of interior design, Sorod EV will have two layouts. The starter model adopts a similar design to the Hummer EV, and the instrument and central control screen are separated. On the high-end version of the model, the 11-inch instrument is connected to the 17-inch central control screen, forming a design similar to LYRIQ. However, compared with the 38-inch integrated screen equipped with LYRIQ, the sense of technology of Sorod EV will still be weaker.
However, I guess that the Sorod EV, like the Hummer EV, will not be introduced to the Chinese market. But I guess at this year's Expo, Chevrolet should replace the Booth with this EV version.
