In the early morning of January 6, Beijing time, Chevrolet Silverado EV was officially released, the new car is the second pure electric pickup product launched by GM after the Hummer EV, and it is also built with the new third-generation pure electric platform Ultium Aotene platform, which is one of the strong potential competitors of Ford F-150 Lightning.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV will be available in two versions, the WT Commercial Edition with tool car attributes and the RST Edition, which focuses on fashion and home use. The car is now officially available for pre-order in the U.S. and is expected to start production in 2023, with the WT version launched in the spring of 2023 starting at $39,900, the RST version available in the fall of 2023 at a price of $105,000, and a Trail Boss performance off-road version will be launched in the future.
In terms of appearance design, the new car does not adopt the design style of the 2022 Silverado fuel version, but adopts a new family design language, the overall line is very smooth, the cargo box and the cockpit connection adopts a shark fin anti-roll frame, the body structure is an integrated design, and the cargo box and cockpit can be penetrated.
The front face of the RST version adopts the more popular horizontal through LED strip, 24-inch alloy metal rim, and the closed air intake grille commonly used in electric vehicles, and the logo adopts a luminous design. The WT version is a traditional split headlight group, which uses a large number of black decorative parts and steel rims to save costs, and has a more simple design style.
The rear part of the new car adopts the vertical taillight shape common to pickup truck models, and the taillights of the RST version model are embellished with LED light source strips, and the WT version model may not provide LED light sources considering cost reasons. The tail shape of the two versions is basically the same, using a T-type rear bumper design, while designing a boarding foot position on both sides of the bumper to facilitate users to enter the inside of the cargo box, the RST version of the rear bumper bottom uses a bright metal trim, and the WT version is a traditional black accessory.
In terms of interior, Chevrolet Silverado EV also applies a new design style, with a panoramic oversized sunroof, the top model adopts an 11-inch full LCD dashboard + 17-inch multimedia touch screen dual screen combination, with a 14-inch HUD head-up display system, showing a very strong sense of technology, entry-level models use a split-type dual-screen design, more emphasis on ease of use. The car system kernel is based on the Ultifi Linux software platform developed by general motors group, and supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Super Cruise Super Cruise System, Panoramic Imaging, OTA online upgrade and many other functions.
In terms of power performance, the Chevrolet Silverado EV adopts a dual-motor drive mode, with a maximum power of 673 horsepower and a peak torque of 1063 N·m, 0-96 km/h acceleration of only 4.5 seconds, and a maximum power of 517 horsepower and a peak torque of 833 N·m for low-end models. The RST edition offers four-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension to lift or lower the model by 50 mm.
The battery pack adopts the Ultium battery pack with a capacity of 200kWh, which can use a 350kW high-speed charging pile for fast charging, which can increase the cruising range of 160 kilometers in 10 minutes, and the maximum cruising range can reach about 643 kilometers, which is much longer than the Hummer EV that emphasizes performance. Chevrolet has also installed a PowerBase charging system, which can be used to power power tools and other items, capable of outputting up to 10.2kW of electricity, and even meeting the needs of home homes.
As an electric pickup truck product, chevrolet Silverado EV attaches great importance to the expansion of loading space, the car has a common front load compartment for electric vehicles, the conventional length of the inside of the cargo box is up to 1557mm, if the second row of seats is reclined, the depth length will reach 3078mm. In addition, the official also provides a variety of flexible accessories for different scenarios for the WT version, the WT version has a maximum traction mass of 3628kg and a payload of 586kg, and the maximum traction mass can reach 9017kg after installing a heavy-duty traction bag.
