On January 6, Zhichepai learned that at CES 2022, Chevrolet launched the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, which is an all-electric version of the automaker's best-selling pickup truck. The Silverado EV can be seen as GM's response to Ford's F-150 Lightning, Tesla Cybertronuck, Rivian R1T and even Hummer EV. It is indeed an option for consumers looking to buy an electric pickup truck.
GM estimates that the Silverado EV will reach a range of 400 miles (about 644 kilometers) when fully charged, with 664 horsepower and more than 780 pounds of torque in "Wide Open Watts Mode" mode, DC charging power of up to 350 kilowatts, 10.2 kilowatts of outboard power and 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, and some models with a payload of up to 1300 pounds. Chevrolet plans to initially release a version of the flagship RST First Edition that includes features such as four-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension, Super Cruise, GM's semi-autonomous driving software, and a 17-inch LCD infotainment screen.
The Silverado EV will be equipped with GM's new 24-module Ultium battery pack. The Ultium battery pack is key to GM's transition to electric vehicles, as a structural design that provides strength, durability and performance due to its engineering design. The vehicle's chassis is also equipped with independent front and rear suspensions, which contribute to off-road terrain and road performance.
Last December, it was reported that GM would try to start production of the Silverado EV in early 2023. The company will launch a WT model with the longest range in the spring of 2023. In the fall, the first version of the RST model will enter production and debut, with a suggested retail price of more than $105,000 (about 668,900 yuan). GM will produce the Silverado EV at its ZERO plant in Detroit, Michigan, inspired by the automaker's goal of "zero collision, zero emissions and zero congestion."
