In 1913, Mr. Ma Xiangbo came to Beijing at the invitation of his student Cai Yuanpei, teachers and students met and talked happily, and Yuan Shikai, who had long heard of the old man's name, was also attached to the elegance and rushed to join in the fun.
Mr. Ma Xiangbo's attitude towards Yuan Shikai, who came uninvited, did not stop Yuan Shikai's "enthusiasm".
A few years ago, Yuan Shikai once asked Mr. Ma Xiangbo a question: "I want to get ahead in the official arena, how should I be good?" Please sir. ”

Mr. Ma Xiangbo
Ma Xiangbo smiled disdainfully and casually teased: "You can bribe the eunuch first, and then get acquainted with the powerful people of the imperial court through the eunuch, so that you can get promoted to a higher rank and get rich and get ahead." ”
The old gentleman did not expect that a sentence he casually uttered here was actually named by Yuan Shikai as a golden rule, and Yuan Shikai really had a smooth career, ascended all the way, and finally "risked the world's great disobedience", yin and yang, and called the emperor emperor.
Yuan Shikai therefore had great faith in Mr. Ma Xiangbo and had great respect for him, and when he heard that Mr. Ma had come to Beijing, Yuan Shikai had come to invite Mr. Ma to attend his enthronement ceremony.
Although Ma Xiangbo went to the scene, when everyone prostrated to the "emperor" according to the old practice, only the old gentleman stood still and did not worship, Yuan Shikai had no choice but to hurry to give him a "seat" to avoid embarrassment.
Yuan Shikai said that the emperor did not have long to die, and Mr. Ma Xiangbo was happy and wrote a couplet with a pen: Sick six gentlemen, ordered to send two Chen Tang.
"Six Gentlemen" and "Erchen Tang" are both medicinal names, and the old man has another meaning here, they are all benevolent and righteous people who oppose Yuan Shikai's claim to the title of emperor.
Who is Mr. Ma Xiangbo?
He is a famous educator in China, the founder of Aurora University and Fudan University and the first president of Fudan University.
As early as 1900, the 60-year-old Ma Xiangbo gave everything he had, with the support of the church, to create China's first private university - Aurora University.
However, soon after running the school, Ma Xiangbo and the church had a dispute over the direction of teaching, the original intention of the old man to run the school was to cultivate outstanding students, and after completing the study to serve the motherland, while the church insisted on teaching theology and cultivating devout Christians. The contradiction eventually developed into an irreconcilable point, and Ma Xiangbo was expelled from the church.

In 1905, Ma Xiangbo's students Yu Youren, Shao Lizi and others announced their separation from Aurora University and supported Mr. Ma Xiangbo in founding Fudan Public School. In 1917, Ma Xiangbo gave Fudan Public School a new name - Fudan University.
The name of Fudan University has a profound meaning, and Mr. Lao later explained that the two words Fudan contain the double meaning of "restoring my Aurora and reviving my China", which is the origin of Fudan University.
Although Mr. Ma Xiangbo is a devout Christian, he firmly believes in the way of "education to save the country", so he founded Fudan University, but what he saw was warlord division, life was ruined, the people were not happy, the sea of suffering was boundless, and there was no hope.
After entering the 80-year-old mark, Ma Xiangbo lost interest in the current situation, and under the domination of disappointment and pessimism, the old man vowed: never ask about political affairs, practice writing every day, and not read newspaper news for ten years.
Mr. Ma Xiangbo's original handiwork
1930 was the 90th birthday of Mr. Ma Xiangbo, many students of Fudan University came to pay homage to their teachers, Fudan teachers and students gathered together, Mr. Ma Xiangbo has not been so happy for many years.
However, just after the big birthday, the 918 Incident broke out in the northeast.
Mr. Ma Xiangbo could no longer sit still, and despite his age and poor health, he went to all parts of the country again and again to give patriotic speeches. In order to raise funds for the anti-Japanese resistance, he began to sell his own words, because he was old and could not stand for a long time, Ma Xiangbo let others help him write.
In this way, he sold it word for word, and in a short period of time, he even raised 100,000 yuan, and Ma Xiangbo donated all this money to the soldiers of the front-line anti-Japanese resistance.
Mr. Ma Xiangbo had been living in seclusion for ten years before this, and now, the old man was no longer silent, and this weak scholar who had been committed to "education to save the country" issued an angry roar: "Don't be stingy with one shot and one bullet to the outside world!" ”
Hearing the news of Ma Zhanshan's General Jiangqiao's War of Resistance, Ma Xiangbo was agitated, disregarding his own safety, and was very enthusiastic, and he was extremely sarcastic to the Kuomintang government between his words: "China sleeps on lions and loves peace; Ma Zhanshan has a claw, as if awake, as if to launch, when will all the people and the national government wake up?" When to move? ”
Seeing that the Kuomintang government was pretending to be deaf and dumb, Mr. Ma Xiangbo was indignant, and in his public speech, the spearhead of the old man pointed directly at Chiang Kai-shek: "Mengziyun: 'If a king has a great transgression, he will advise; if he does not listen repeatedly, he will change his position'. ”
Chiang Kai-shek was angry and hindered by the fame of Fudan University and Ma Xiangbo, and did not dare to act arbitrarily toward him, so he had to spread his dissatisfaction to Yu Youren, who graduated from Fudan University: "Your teacher is also making too much trouble, too much!" Not like words!"

"The authorities are too weak, obstructing the anti-Japanese resistance, the people are more spectators, and the reaction is cold", such a situation made Mr. Ma Xiangbo impatient, hating that he could not personally go to the battlefield to kill the Japanese Kou, helplessly old and weak, so the old man frequently gave speeches on the radio station, and for a period of time, the old man's anti-Japanese speech became the most popular program.
In 1939, Mr. Ma Xiangbo's health was not good, so his student Yu Youren arranged for him to go to Vietnam to recuperate, and also wanted to let the old man stay away from the war and spend his old age in peace.
In Vietnam, the old gentleman spent his hundredth birthday. Many students who graduated from Fudan University came to wish for their birthday, and both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China also sent telegrams to congratulate them; the Kuomintang side sent a telegram saying: "The heroes of the bandits are the heroes of the nation, or the country's rui"; the CPC congratulatory telegram said: "Mr. Ballantine Daqing, the light of the country, the rui of mankind." ”
On the occasion of Ma Xiangbo's 100th birthday, the old man did not forget the motherland, which was in the depths of the waters, and he said bitterly to Mr. Hu Yuzhi, who had gone to wish for his birthday: "I am a dog and can only bark; but I have been barking for a hundred years, and I have not woken up China!"
