On April 22, a week after receiving the research and development task, Associate Professor Yao Qi's ultraviolet sanitize team has transported three kinds of ultraviolet sanitize equipment to the campus and officially "put on the job".

According to Yao Qi, this sanitize machine must not only ensure efficiency, but also ensure human safety. The middle of the device adopts 254 nm peak wavelength ultraviolet light, through accurate optical design, simulation, to achieve internal uniform, fast sanitize, and no leakage of light; both ends are 222nm peak wavelength ultraviolet light, effectively solve the problem of short sanitize time before and after the article, while avoiding potential harm to people.

For ultraviolet applications, while ensuring the sterilization effect, it is more important to ensure its photobiological safety. Based on its own accumulation in light health and photomedonage for many years, Yao Qi's team uses four major optical technologies to improve the UV light sterilization effect: precision optical design, space accurate irradiance design, light dose quantitative evaluation, ultraviolet visualization technology, and ensure photobiological safety.

Elevator button disinfection

According to reports, this cross-research team is led by the optical engineering team of Fudan Institute of Engineering and Applied Technology (hereinafter referred to as: Institute of Industrial Research), with Fudan Department as the mainstay. Yao Qi led 8 scientific researchers from the Institute of Industry and Research, including a number of graduate students, to be responsible for the overall research and development and design of sanitize equipment and led the application of light source technology; 2 doctors from Fudan Affiliated Hospital participated in the safety test of the equipment to ensure the safety of the application; the 6-person team of the School of Architecture of Northeastern University helped the spatial planning and design, and the final product was jointly developed and produced with Guangmingyuan Company.

On April 20, at an entrance of the Handan campus, the intelligent disinfection machine with full coverage of the object meter was delivered on a trial basis. This is Fudan's first automated material sanitize equipment, which is from the hands of Fudan student team.

"This disinfection machine is very practical and has reduced our workload!" Zhang Tianzi, the head of the R&D team and a doctoral student in the 2019 School of Information Science and Engineering, received praise.

Intelligent disinfection machine with full coverage of the object meter

On April 15, Zhang Tianzi and five team members received R&D requirements. In response to the demand, the team outlined the prototype of the automatic disinfection machine: full coverage of the object meter, adjustable disinfection intensity, convenient installation, safety first, environmental protection and health of the track type meter intelligent disinfection machine.

"On the basis of complying with the technical specifications for disinfection, safe, efficient and rapid landing is the core point of our research and development." Zhang Tianzi introduced, "Considering that most of the materials are packed in cartons, if the disinfectant water is directly sprayed, it is easy to wet the packaging and is very wasteful, we have adopted an ultrasonic atomization scheme." The disinfectant is atomized into particles of about 10 microns, which can be well attached to the surface of the object, and the disinfectant can continue to function after the items leave the disinfection compartment, which not only improves the disinfection efficiency but also ensures the reliable effect. ”

After a night of hard work, Zhang Tianzi led the team to design the first drawings and submitted a complete plan on the morning of April 16. After entering the processing and production process, Zhang Tianzi's team faced new challenges. Affected by the epidemic, it was difficult to purchase materials, and they had to "locally source materials" to conduct alternative analysis of parts and components. Logistics are in short supply and the timeliness of transportation is also testing them, and Zhang Tianzi is trying to find ways to "unite all the forces that can be united." There was not enough time, and they sometimes answered the phone while eating, asking for help from all sides. Three days of production was completed, two days of transportation arrived, and the intelligent disinfection machine with full coverage of the object meter achieved 5 days of delivery.

Intelligent robot distributed construction

After the truck is fully loaded with supplies and delivered to the school, the truck, the cargo, the standing area, the ground and the environment after the car leaves, all need to be comprehensively sanitize.

In response to this sanitize demand, Gan Middle School, vice president of the Institute of Industry and Research and dean of the Institute of Intelligent Robots, led the research and development of disinfection robots, and proposed a design scheme of "flexible and precise sanitize robot with hand-leg-eye-brain integration".

"Sanitize robots, which are common on the market, tend to carry out large-area coverage sanitize. The campus entry materials and specific environmental sanitize require high efficiency and accurate positioning, so the mobile flexible sanitize robot we developed is highlighted by the precision fixed-point sanitize. The team of young researchers of the Institute of Industry and Research Qi Lizhe developed the first generation of "disinfection robots" as early as 2020. "From the remote control mode and the independent mapping method, the control mechanism of remote video surveillance has been added, and the AMR-double-arm robot that adapts to the sanitize of personalized takeaway virus and ensures the safety and health of people has been rapidly developed."
