When he came to Lang Zhaoyu's studio, he gave the reporter a folding book "Lang Zhaoyu Calligraphy Works" that had just been published by his unit Lanzhou Internet News Center this year, which included more than 30 of his masterpieces of calligraphy, calligraphy and cursive writing in the past year. He already has 13 such books, one of which is published every year, recording his experience and achievements in the growth of calligraphy. Lang Zhaoyu told reporters: "My calligraphy is more extensive, I have written the true grass seal, and all of them have been exhibited in the exhibition of the China Book Association. In my opinion, although I have been practicing calligraphy for many years, it is not yet time to determine my own style, and if I accumulate it for a period of time, there will always be a day of qualitative change. The reason why I insist on publishing my own calligraphy book every year is also for this consideration. Imagine, I continue to persevere, in another thirty years, when I am almost eighty years old, forty or so books put together, one by one from beginning to end, this will not bear witness to my perseverance? ”
Calligraphy changes fate, and Lang Zhaoyu is definitely a model of success, which also makes him almost "enchanted" insistence on calligraphy. Lang Zhaoyu was born in Dabugou Village, Hedao Township, Min County, Dingxi City, his grandfather was originally an accountant in the production team, liked to write and paint, his father was a teacher, he also liked to write, every New Year's Festival his family was the most lively, because the villagers would come to his home to ask his grandfather or father to help write couplets. The bits and pieces I saw as a child planted the seeds of calligraphy in Lang Zhaoyu's heart. When he began to practice calligraphy, his father was very strict with him, laying a solid foundation for his future calligraphy cultivation. Lang Zhaoyu learned from his grandfather and father how to learn calligraphy in addition to learning calligraphy. Lang Zhaoyu said: "When I was a child, I saw my grandfather and father write brush characters with a lot of puzzlement, I thought I could leave Dabugou to go to other villages and even the city to see how other writers wrote, why didn't my father write a stroke dipped in ink, the brush was forked and there was no ink, and I had to draw hard, and the words that were not thick in ink were not drawn, and the most important thing was that I did not listen to them, and continued their perseverance." It was because of their persistence that they understood that calligraphy and writing were not the same thing, that Lang Zhaoyu's writing state at that time did not fall into the clichés. Because under the condition that eating a full meal is the primary problem before most rural people, even a person who has an interest in writing does not know how to learn calligraphy, and the ending is the same, but his grandfather and father are different, because they understand.
To say that Lang Zhaoyu completely embarked on the road of calligraphy study, or in 2007 he met the first noble person on the road of calligraphy, when Wang Huquan, the principal of Hedao Middle School in Min County, resisted the pressure and seconded Lang Zhaoyu from the Chinese teacher and class teacher of Hedao Central Primary School to the middle school to teach calligraphy class and director of the office, the calligraphy class gave him space, and the office director gave him a platform. You know, for a person who is ready, once he has a platform for display, it is very important, and he will cherish the platform to a point where it is more important than himself and everything about himself. After many diligent practices day and night, all night, Lang Zhaoyu entered the exhibition of the Gansu Book Association a year later, and became a member of the Gansu Calligraphers Association, and his works were exhibited in the National Exhibition of gansu Book Association, and as of 2012, he entered the exhibition of the Gansu Book Association more than ten times, the exhibition of the China Book Association six times and successfully joined the China Book Association, and in the following years, he participated in other national exhibitions more than 800 times and won more than 80 awards, and more than 60 papers and essays were published in "Chinese Calligraphy" And other professional newspapers and periodicals published, and in the name of calligraphy ran through many cities across the country, the nationwide exchange made his calligraphy and realm improve rapidly.
Over the years, Lang Zhaoyu has been a primary and secondary school Chinese and art teacher for eleven years in Shimen Primary School, Heda Central Primary School and Heda Middle School in Min County, and has been a full-time teacher of calligraphy in The West Minzhu Road Primary School in Chengguan District, Lanzhou City for four years, and now he has become a media person, but his pursuit of calligraphy has never stopped. Talking about the calligraphy road he had walked, Lang Zhaoyu was full of emotions: "I remember that a few years ago I was teaching at Heda Middle School, and the county sent a cultural grassroots calligraphy team to write the Spring Festival League in our township, and I was also a member of the squad at that time, and I walked with him through many townships. Because that time in our township, I did not have to go into the city to join the large troops, and after class, I went directly to the door of the township government to participate in writing. As a result, several calligraphers from the county let the villagers surround themselves, no matter how cold it was, they had to stick to the Spring Festival, but no one in front of my stall asked me, although I shouted that I was also a writer, one of the few Members of the Chinese Book Association in our county, but still no one paid attention to me, only to hear a villager say that Dabugou Zhaoyu may also write brush characters, and even at the entrance of the commune with the writers from the county, but it may not be good, no one wants! My heart was depressed, but I persevered until the end. Because I know that calligraphy needs to be transformed in perseverance, perseverance in transformation, and so is the concept of the villagers. This is not, the wind and rain for many years to run around a big circle, now every time back to Dabugou to see the grandparents, the villagers will say can you write us another picture of the nave, we change the hanging, I gladly agreed and wrote on the spot, because I am grateful for their original persistence! Because of their original persistence, it is the persistence and conceptual change that I have now, that is, calligraphy needs to be popularized. In the past two years, every time I go back to Dabugou, I will go to some schools and write more than a hundred calligraphy works for the children and teachers, and I have already gone to several schools, because I know how to persevere, and I must continue to persevere! It is because of these extraordinary experiences in the past that I finally understand a truth, that is, at this stage of my belief: the highest realm of calligraphy is not to make calligraphy techniques legal, but to make calligraphy life and life calligraphy. ”
In 2020, Lang Zhaoyu was elected vice chairman of the Lanzhou Book Association, and the following year he served as vice chairman and secretary general, and his calligraphy path changed from "solo music to public music". Lang Zhaoyu told reporters: "Over the years, the responsibility on my shoulders has been greater, and I have been responsible for more things, especially in the inheritance and promotion of calligraphy, I have done a lot of work. Such as sending calligraphy to the campus and into the classroom, planning and organizing calligraphy exhibitions, salons, lectures, art collections, exchanges and other activities, as well as the normal affairs work of the association and so on. In addition, I also assisted the chairman of the book association to plan and carry out the overall work of the city book association one by one, I have only one goal, that is, to better serve the majority of members, the purpose is only one, as long as the calligraphy level of the members in our city is improved, everyone is satisfied with my work, which is my greatest wish! ”
His own work, the work of the book association, and the study of calligraphy, these three things have now filled Lang Zhaoyu's life. He told reporters: "Although the work is busy, it will not affect my posting and creation. As the vice chairman and secretary general of the Lanzhou Book Association, if my own skills cannot convince the public, many people will have opinions about me, so practicing calligraphy is a lifelong thing. "After holding several positions, Lang Zhaoyu also has in-depth thinking about his calligraphy path, that is, he can't take up too much time because of unnecessary socializing, calligraphy will not progress, he will insist on post-post creation every day, and practice at night without time during the day, in short, a day can not be less." In the future, I will insist on going this way, and I must put higher demands on myself, otherwise I, the vice president and secretary general, will not be competent. Lang Zhaoyu said.
Talking about the future road of calligraphy, Lang Zhaoyu said: "I like the true grass seal, but now because of the busy work, there has been more cursive writing recently, in order to be 'fast'. But from the perspective of my own personality, I prefer Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, because it looks more beautiful, elegant, elegant, in line with my personal aesthetic, but also unstable, and sometimes involves Wang Duo, Xu Wei, Zhang Ruitu, Yang Weizhen, Three Strokes and Three Traces and other styles. So my style of study in recent years has varied every year, which has caused a lot of controversy, but I still stick to my philosophy of studying. I advocate that my students learn from the works of the national exhibition masters, involve some of them for their own use, as long as they adhere to this, they can take fewer detours, and after a few years, the people who insist on it have entered the provincial exhibition and the national exhibition, and the people who have not adhered to it are still stuck in the distress stage of transition from copying to creation. I said, after all, those masters have come from sticking to the ancients, and if we stick to them, we can stick to our own calligraphy elements. Some time ago, I looked at the Huang Tingjian Codex to understand its high-level nature. I remember communicating with a book friend in Xiamen two years ago, saying that he had recently studied Lu You's calligraphy, and when he was a child, he only knew that 'the dead Yuan knows everything is empty', how can it be linked to calligraphy? Later, I consciously looked at Lu You's calligraphy, only to understand its artistry, when I saw the cursive works of the 12th National Exhibition in Baoji, I found several works in the style of Lu You, and only then did I understand a lot of truth, and now I learn more about Lu You's works. Of course, over the years, through the intervention of adult calligraphy education, I have been studying and constantly evolving and thinking about each style of calligraphy, thinking about how to use the shortest time and efficiently integrate my favorite calligraphy and inscriptions into my personal calligraphy creation, which is a problem I have been thinking about. Therefore, I also have a certain pressure to do this, because whenever I have a self-concept that needs to be adhered to, there will be many more people around who do not understand you. In particular, the more you insist, the fewer people who understand you, but I will not care about this, because the real scenery of life is not in the evaluation of others, but in the way of adhering to the road of making calligraphy life and life calligraphy, this is the most beautiful scenery of life. ”
