I believe that many viewers know that in many temples in our country, stupas have been built, and among the various stupas, there have also been priceless treasures, which is already an indisputable fact. Especially in The Famen Temple in Shaanxi Province, precious cultural relics have also been unearthed, not only in very large quantities, but also in a unique cultural relics in the world, that is, the finger bone relics of Buddha Shakyamuni.
What everyone did not expect was that among the many cultural relics, archaeologists also found Wu Zetian's skirt. From this, we can also see that there are many treasures in Famen Temple, and the categories are also very complete, especially in the Tang Dynasty, there were eight emperors, and in the process of worshiping Famen Temple, many treasures were buried. Now, after these precious cultural relics have been unearthed, they have also been placed in museums for people to admire and remember.
1. The collapsed Famen Temple
In 1981, Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province, received a rare heavy rain, which also shocked the local people, because they had never seen such a heavy rain in their lives. As the abbot of Famen Temple, in the face of the torrential rain, there was also a little uneasiness in his heart, because in the Famen Temple, the pagoda that stood for a thousand years could not withstand such a heavy rain.
Sure enough, in the middle of the night, lightning and thunder, accompanied by torrential rain, instantly caused the pagoda to collapse in half, and also woke up the sleeping people. After seeing the scriptures scattered on the ground, the abbot quickly gathered the monks and threw themselves into the process of rescuing the scriptures. At this time, Master Huiguo was studying in India, and when he heard about this incident, he also sent a distress signal to the world, hoping to raise funds to rebuild the pagoda of Famen Temple.
According to historical records, this stupa has existed for more than 1,700 years, and it was not until after the late Tang Dynasty that it was renamed Famen Temple Stupa. However, the earliest records appeared in the Northern Wei Dynasty, when famen Temple was already quite large. After the repairs of the dynasties, famen temple was presented in front of everyone and guarded the people.
Second, unexpected discoveries
After the collapse of the pagoda, the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Administration Department mobilized its elite forces and conducted a preliminary appraisal of the pagoda, believing that it had fallen into disrepair and could no longer be salvaged for restoration. In desperation, the experts decided to rebuild the pagoda, but the matter was delayed due to a lack of funds.
It was not until 1978, after official funding and private corporate funding, that the reconstruction of the pagoda was put on the agenda. When the workers gathered at Famen Temple, the construction process was also very smooth, but in the process of cleaning up the ruins, the workers also made unexpected discoveries. It turned out that at the bottom of the Famen Temple, there was a huge underground palace hidden, which even revealed a shining golden light.
When the workers removed the stone slabs of Han white jade, they found that there was another Qiankun here, which not only attracted the attention of archaeologists, but also alarmed the local police station, who quickly dispatched public security officers to bring Famen Temple into temporary control in order to protect these hard-won cultural relics. After the approval of the leaders at all levels, the archaeological excavation of Famen Temple was also carried out intensively.
3. Discover cultural relics
When the archaeologists gathered, they used specialized tools and soon found the entrance to the underground palace. Walking down the steps, everyone also found countless Kaiyuan Tongbao, which is also very in line with the records in the history books, that is, the money paving that everyone often mentions. At the end of the steps, seven huge stones sealed the underground palace tightly, from which you can also see that the anti-theft consciousness of the ancients is still very strong.
With the help of large excavation tools, archaeologists moved the stones away and saw two gates made of white jade, but it was not an easy task to open this gate, because behind the gate, it was likely to be dark arrows or poison, after all, the ancestors could not prevent it. After the experts studied, it was finally decided to hit the stone door with a wooden stick and solve this problem.
When the gate was opened, the experts first found two stone tablets, which recorded the bills of gold and silver treasures in the underground palace, as well as the QiYang Zhenzhi Tablet. After seeing this, the experts were also excited, and they were eager to rush in immediately to see the true face of these rare treasures. However, under the circumstances at that time, the protective clothing customized for the experts was not yet in place, so they had to wait patiently.
4. Excavated cultural relics
After two days, the experts were finally able to enter the dungeon, and they were shocked when they saw the variety of gold and silver artifacts. In order to get these items out as quickly as possible, the experts only had three or four hours of rest every day and used a large number of staff. Inside the front chamber of the underground palace, experts also found the Ashoka Tower.
However, it is regrettable that many of those precious silk satins have been weathered because of their age, so it is difficult to separate them. In order to preserve these silks to the greatest extent, the experts filled with a large amount of inert gas and found Wu Zetian's skirt, which also made the experts excited.
In the courtyard of the back room, experts have made more discoveries, especially more than 800 pieces of gold and silverware and autumn color porcelain, which also fill a major gap in the domestic archaeological community. However, when the experts finished cleaning, they found that there was another dry under the stone slab, and there was actually a half-meter-high Buddhist shrine buried here. With bold imagination, experts suspect that this place is likely to be a Buddha bone relic. However, for the sake of safety, experts deliberately took this shrine to the hospital and used X-rays to find out.
