It is said that when Wu Zetian ascended the throne, it was a cold winter month, and the flowers and trees in the capital Chang'an withered. Wu Zetian, Princess Taiping, and Shangguan Wan'er visited the garden to enjoy the snow, and the empress was drunk and issued an edict: "The Ming Dynasty travels to the garden, the fire is known in the spring, the flowers must be sent overnight, and do not wait for the xiaofeng to urge." "The gods of flowers, forced by the Empress Yan Wei, did not dare not follow, and overnight they all blossomed, but the peonies were not moved, and not a single leaf was born. The empress visited the garden the next day, and after seeing the situation, she was furious and relegated the four thousand peonies from Chang'an to Luoyang. Who knew that when the peony arrived in Luoyang, it bloomed more delicate and rich flowers than ever. The empress became more and more angry, and sent people to burn the peony, but where it burned to the extreme, the peony took root and multiplied in Luoyang.
