Wuhan, 19 Dec (Xinhua) -- The launching ceremony of the Eighth National Popular Ice and Snow Season was held in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and Shennongjia Forest District on 19 December.

The theme of this year's ice and snow season is "Realizing the Dream of the Winter Olympics, Sharing the Future". From now until April 2022, the national public ice and snow season will run through the entire 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and carry out a series of mass ice and snow activities such as "China Ice and Snow Caravan", "National Ice and Snow Open Class", "Sliding to 2022", Ice and Snow Carnival, ice and snow carnival and other mass ice and snow activities throughout the country.

Next to the main venue of the launching ceremony in Wuhan, there is a 1,800-square-meter China Ice and Snow Sports Exhibition, which introduces the history of China's ice and snow sports development in the form of objects, pictures and texts. Among them, the "Ice and Snow Caravan" exhibition area also has speed skating training boards, cross-country ski simulators, liquid curling experience projects and other devices for visitors to experience. At the same time, the Wuhan National Fitness Center and the Wuhan International Tennis Center held the Ice and Snow Carnival and Ice and Snow Art Festival.

The venues of Enshi Prefecture and Shennongjia Forest District launched this national public ice and snow season synchronously through video connection. Activities such as the China Youth Ski Grand Prix, Snowball Fight, Snow Dragon Boat, Snow Tug-of-War, Snow Circle Relay, Snow Biathlon, Snow Photography, And Ice and Snow Garden Fair organized by the venues brought unique ice and snow experiences to local people and tourists.

The launching ceremony was hosted by the General Administration of Sport of the People's Republic of China, the Organizing Committee of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and the People's Government of Hubei Province.
