The heroic anti-Japanese fighters, facing the arrogance of the Japanese army and the puppet army, were not afraid and bravely fought against the enemy. He has written one magnificent heroic epic after another, showing the spirit of the sons and daughters of China who are not afraid of strong enemies and have the courage to resist.
In August 1941, the Japanese army in north China once again gathered more than 70,000 Japanese and puppet troops in an attempt to launch a carpet "sweep" operation against the Jincha wing area. In the past, the Japanese army's "great sweeping" operations, robbing food, burning and looting, and doing no evil, were simply extremely vicious.
Therefore, after learning of the actions of the Japanese army, the Eighth Route Army and the party organization in the Jincha wing area began to organize the transfer of the masses, and arranged for some fighters to be responsible for covering and subsequently blocking the enemy's work. At that time, in the Area of Wolfa Mountain in Baodingyi County, Hebei Province, it was attacked by more than 3,500 Japanese puppet troops.
In order to ensure the safe transfer of the masses and the main forces, the five soldiers stationed in the sixth squad of the Seventh Company of the First Regiment of the First Military Subdistrict of the Jincha Wing Military Region of the Eighth Route Army in the Area of Langya Mountain received the heavy task arranged for them by the organization: to stay and take charge of the rear guard blockade and cover the transfer of the masses and the company.
After receiving the task, The squad leader Ma Baoyu assured the organization: "I and the other four soldiers will definitely complete the task, and we will never let the enemy discover the whereabouts of the masses and the company." In this way, Ma Baoyu led the deputy squad leader Ge Zhenlin, as well as three fighters, Song Xueyi, Hu Delin, and Hu Fucai, to stay.
After watching the masses and troops move, they began to take advantage of the favorable terrain in the area to carry out guerrilla warfare with the enemy. In the heroic battle of the five men, they successfully repelled the enemy's attacks many times, killing more than ninety enemies.
However, after all, the enemy is outnumbered, and direct confrontation is not a wise move. After analyzing the situation between the enemy and us, during the break, the squad leader Ma Baoyu gathered the soldiers together and said: "The enemy is so numerous that we cannot always confront them like this." We want to use the terrain here to lure the enemy away. The other warriors agreed to this strategy.
Therefore, the five warriors, fighting and retreating, led the enemy in the opposite direction of the main force. Eventually, the five warriors retreated to the summit of the Wolf's Tooth Mountain Chessboard. This place is far from the direction in which the troops were transferred, but it is also a dead end.
When the Japanese puppet army learned that it had been deceived, it became angry and even increased its firepower to launch an onslaught on the five fighters. The long battle caused the soldiers to run out of ammunition they were carrying. Even so, they did not give up the fight. The warriors lifted the stones around them and threw them at the enemy.
Looking at the enemy getting closer and closer, the five warriors knew that they could not repel the enemy anymore. Ma Baoyu said to his comrades-in-arms: "We have successfully dragged the enemy here, and we have successfully completed the task entrusted to us by the organization." We are soldiers of the Eighth Route Army and must not be captured by the enemy. ”
Deputy squad leader Ge Zhenlin also said excitedly: "Yes, I would rather die on the battlefield than be captured and become a prisoner of the Japanese." In the end, several people came to a unanimous decision: smash the gun and jump off a cliff to martyrdom.
Squad leader Ma Baoyu jumped off the cliff first, and then Hu Delin and Hu Fucai jumped down without fear. Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi, who remained behind, watched the three comrades jump down without hesitation, and they also walked to the edge of the cliff together. Song Xueyi said to Ge Zhenlin: "Deputy squad leader, let's dance together, we also have a companion." ”
In the end, Ma Baoyu, Hu Delin, Hu Fucai, Ge Zhenlin, and Song Xueyi, five brave soldiers, preferred to die unyieldingly and heroically jumped from the peak of Wolf's Tooth Mountain. After jumping off the cliff, Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi were fortunate to be dropped to the branches of the mountainside, and although they were seriously injured, they were lucky to survive.
After Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi found out, they were taken back to the anti-Japanese base area for treatment. At that time, Song Xueyi's waist was seriously injured, and after several years of treatment and recuperation, he still could not recover. In order not to burden the troops, in 1944, Song Xueyi transferred to a rural area in Yi County and served as the chairman of the peasant association.
After that, Song Xueyi returned to his hometown, worked in the fields by himself, relied on his own labor, supported himself and his family, and lived a simple and simple peasant life. After the founding of New China, Song Xueyi led the villagers in his hometown to respond to the call of the state and actively devote themselves to the cause of national construction.
Ge Zhenlin, who survived with Song Xueyi, was not as seriously injured as Song Xueyi. After recuperating from his wounds in the hospital, Ge Zhenlin returned to the army and continued to participate in the revolutionary struggle. Later, in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Ge Zhenlin came to the front line of the battlefield very heroically and made great achievements.
After retiring from the battlefield, Ge Zhenlin has successively served as deputy director of the Logistics Department of the Hunan Provincial Guard Regiment, deputy director of the Hengyang Municipal People's Armed Forces Department, and vice minister of the Logistics Department of the Hengyang City Garrison District.
After his retirement, Ge Zhenlin did not idle, he has served as an external counselor in more than 200 primary schools, telling children about the history and heroic deeds of the revolutionary years. He has always contributed his energy and enthusiasm to the country and the people.
Of the five heroes of Wolf Tooth Mountain, only Song Xueyi and Ge Zhenlin survived. And Ma Baoyu, Hu Delin, and Hu Fucai sacrificed heroically.
