But Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi, the two warriors, were very lucky, perhaps the heavens were blessing them, they were on the edge of the cliff, their clothes were hung on the branches, and they were just saved by the comrades who were passing by the mountain, while the other three fighters were not so lucky, they all died heroically.
In order to commemorate the feats of these five heroes, their touching deeds were made into movies, television and propaganda films, and even a "memorial tower" was built to commemorate these five heroes.
Among them, the most admirable is the ge zhenlin soldier, after the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he has experienced many battles such as the "Tianjin Campaign" and followed the large troops to Jiangxi to eliminate the long-standing bandit plague. In 1950, he participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and after the victory, he returned to the motherland and remained in the army as a senior cadre.
In 1966, he proposed to the superior authorities that he wanted to recuperate, and the superior authorities agreed to his retirement application, considering that the hero had been injured in many places during the battle.
An emotional old age
After retiring from his post, he went to more than a dozen schools in Hengyang City as a student counselor outside the classroom, devoting himself to educating and cultivating the flowers of the motherland, while dedicating all his strength. Not only do they never think about their own wages, but in their daily lives, they often put frugality first.
Because he deeply knows that New China has just been established and the country is not yet rich, he wants to save some more money to support the construction of the country.
According to the custom of retiring state cadres, generally old cadres can enjoy more than 100 kilometers of free public cars, but Ge Lao has never enjoyed such treatment, and he would rather let others push him to the hospital to see a doctor than resolutely not take the car. The reason why he behaved in this way was because he had heard about the tense situation of the use of vehicles in the troops.
As for Ge Lao's home, it can't be simpler, it is a courtyard of less than 120 square meters, which contains many precious old photos of his time as a soldier, without luxurious jewelry or any beautified decoration.
