The story of the five heroes of Wolf's Tooth Mountain is well known, and there have been texts of "Five Heroes of Wolf's Tooth Mountain" in primary school textbooks, and their heroic deeds have inspired countless people, but few people know that the five heroes of Wolf's Tooth Mountain did not all die, but two survived.
It was in August 1941, when the military and civilians of the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region fought together to the Japanese army, and the Japanese army mobilized more than 70,000 people from north China to besiege and sweep the border area, and the Japanese army focused the sweep on the two base areas in beiyue and pingxi, and the Yixian area became the top priority of the Japanese army's sweep.
On September 25, 1941, more than 3,500 Japanese troops marched towards the area around Langya Mountain in Yi County, with the aim of eliminating the Eighth Route Army and its organs in the area.
There were still a large number of Japanese troops following behind, and the main force left the 7th Company to cover to ensure the retreat of the mass organs and departments, and at the same time instructed the 7th Company to retreat on its own after completing the task, so that the combat task was issued one level at a time, and the 7th Company successfully completed the cover task.
However, when the 7th Company wanted to retreat, it found that there were a large number of enemy trailing behind, so that it was impossible to retreat completely, in order to allow most people to retreat, someone had to stay to block the attack, and the people who blocked the attack were nine deaths, and the whole of the sixth squad requested to leave the cover company.
At that time, there were only 5 soldiers left in the sixth squad, namely the squad leader Ma Baoyu, the deputy squad leader Ge Zhenlin, and the soldiers Song Xueyi, Hu Delin, and Hu Fucai.
After the 5 of them discussed, they dispersed to 5 different angles, and took the way of shooting one shot to change places, while using grenades, so that the enemy was difficult to distinguish between multiple people for a while, and due to proper coordination, the 5 of them successfully completed the cover mission.
5 people fought and retreated, and came to a fork in the road, one is the road to catch up with the main force, they can catch up with the main force, while the enemy can also catch up with the main force, and the other is the road to the peak of the Wolf's Tooth Peak, which is a dead end road up the mountain.
In order to ensure that the main force was not caught up by the enemy, under the leadership of the squad leader Ma Baoyu, the 5 of them walked on the road of the main peak of the chessboard, and when the Japanese army gradually forced them to approach the top of the mountain, the enemy found that the original so-called "main force" was only 5 people, and the Japanese army wanted to capture them alive.
After shooting all the bullets, in order not to be captured alive by the Japanese army, under the leadership of the squad leader Ma Baoyu, 5 people jumped down the Wolf Tooth Mountain one after another, so that everyone never expected that all 5 of them were not all sacrificed, of which the deputy squad leader Ge Zhenlin and the soldier Song Xueyi were hung by the branches.
The other 3 people, squad leader Ma Baoyu, soldiers Hu Delin and Hu Fucai were sacrificed, Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi were also rewarded by the sub-commander Yang Chengwu after being rescued, and they were awarded the medal of "resolute and tenacious", and after recovering from their injuries, Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi made different choices.
In 1947, Song Xueyi chose to return to his hometown in Beikong Village, Qinyang City, Henan Province, and died of illness in 1971, while Ge Zhenlin chose to remain in the army, and after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Ge Zhenlin participated in the Liberation War, the Battle of Bandits, and later the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
After years of fighting, Ge Zhenlin was wounded in 6 places and was rated as a third-class first-class disability, and later Ge Zhenlin was arranged to work in Hunan, and in 1982, Ge Zhenlin officially retired and enjoyed division-level treatment until his death on March 21, 2005, at the age of 88.
