Awakeners of the Japanese army invading China: When deserters lived in seclusion in China, they gave Chinese free medical treatment for 70 years for atonement

The War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was the most tragic and longest-lasting war in China's modern history, and the evil Japanese invaders brought great disasters and suffering to the Chinese people. However, although most of the Japanese soldiers were cruel and murderous and had no humanity, there were also many good people who had not lost their conscience, who suddenly woke up in the war and made efforts and contributions to sino-Japanese peace. The Doctor Hiroshi Yamazaki introduced to you today is a famous example.

Hiroshi Yamazaki

Born in 1908 in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, Dr. Hiroshi Yamazaki came to China in 1937 as a military doctor. After witnessing the animalistic behavior of the Japanese army, Dr. Yamazaki was overwhelmed and deserted after staying in the army for half a year. At first, Hiroshi Yamazaki planned to flee back to Japan by boat from Shandong, but on the way to escape, he was helped by the kind people of Jinan, so he decided to stay and atone for his crimes in Japan.

Dr. Hiroshi Yamazaki regained his profession and opened a small clinic on the outskirts of Jinan to see the people of Jinan. Later, the local health center was established, and Dr. Shan became a regular doctor. In the past forty years, Dr. Hiroshi Yamazaki has been silently treating the villagers, and the villagers in Jinan do not know that this doctor who speaks Jinan dialect is actually a Japanese.

In the blink of an eye, reform and opening up have restored normal relations between China and Japan. Dr. Yama's brother from his hometown also contacted him and gave him a job as a well-paid doctor in Japan, but Dr. Yama refused. After that, Dr. Shan has been going back and forth between China and Japan, bringing back a large number of advanced medical equipment and medical books, all donated to the hospital in Jinan, making great contributions to the improvement of Jinan's medical level.

Later, Dr. Shan was older and did not have the energy to sit in the clinic, so he could only come to the clinic on weekends to see patients for free. In the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, Dr. Shan donated the savings accumulated over the years to the disaster area, and also mobilized his family to donate to the disaster area. In 2010, Dr. Shan passed away quietly at the age of 103, and his family donated his body for medical research in accordance with his will.
