At this time, the troops stationed in Yunnan were nominally also concerned with the Ninth Group Army of Linzheng and the Eleventh Group Army of Song Xilian, and the Ninth Army was under the jurisdiction of the Fifty-second Army and the Second Army, controlled in the area of Wenshan and Maguan in southern Yunnan, ostensibly serving as the defense of southern Yunnan, but in fact monitoring the Lu Han department of the First Group Army of the Dian Army stationed in The old area of Mengzi and The Eleventh Group Army Song Xilian was originally under the jurisdiction of two armies, one was Song Xilian's own concubine unit, the Seventy-first Army, and the other was the headquarters of Zhang Yi of the Sixty-sixth Army, which was defeated in Burma. Zhang Yi himself was also the deputy commander-in-chief of the Eleventh Army. However, the headquarters of the Eleventh Group Army was stationed in Kunming, and Song Xilian himself was also the commander of the Kunming City Defense, which was actually to monitor and control Longyun.

When Long Kuiyuan heard the news of the rout of the expeditionary army, he was sure that Western Yunnan would not be able to hold on, so he immediately withdrew the troops sent to Lichaiba and Puyu on the Nu River and prepared to flee.
