The king of Yunnan - Long Yun
A remote corner of Yunnan Province is located on the southwestern territory of the mainland, although it is remote, but because of its rich products and special strategic location, it has also been a treasure place that the authorities have cherished since ancient times.
From the beginning of the Qin Dynasty, the "Five Foot Road" was built in Yunnan and officials were established, marking the central government's rule over Yunnan. Later, no matter how the dynasties changed, Yunnan was always controlled under the jurisdiction of the central dynasty in various forms.
Long Yun, the king of Yunnan who later ruled the Yunnan region for 18 years, was also born in this land of brilliant spirits.
In 1884, Long Yun was born in Yunnan to a family of landlords surnamed Long, and when he was six years old, his father died of illness, and Long Yun followed his mother to live in his uncle's house.
When he was young, Long Yun practiced martial arts with martial arts masters at a martial arts gym near his uncle's house, and achieved little success.
It is said that at the age of 19, he dared to go into the old lair of Yu Haishan, the leader of the green forest, "King of Shunjiang", alone, and killed thieves and harmed the people in one fell swoop.
Later, he failed in business, and due to the compulsion of life, Long Yun joined Wei Huanzhang's troops in Sichuan and began his own military career.
By chance, Long Yun defeated a French boxer who went to Kunming to set up a ring, which attracted the attention of Tang Jiyao, the governor of Yunnan at the time, and became his retinue aide-de-camp.
Later, he has been serving Tang Jiyao and gradually becoming Tang's right and left arm.
In 1922, Tang Jiyao regained control of the military and political power in Yunnan, and appointed Long Yun as the town guard envoy in central Yunnan, stationed in Kunming.
However, after coming to power, Tang Jiyao was afraid of the fall of power, and intended to re-cultivate cronies and exclude dissidents.
Long Yun and the others became estranged from him. During the Northern Expedition, he colluded with the Beiyang warlord Wu Peifu to oppose the revolution and began to act arbitrarily.
Later, hu ruoyu, Zhang Ruji, and Li Xuanting, led by Long Yun, joined forces with the "bingzhi" to force Tang Jiyao to go down.
After that, Long Yun began to compete fiercely with other forces, and finally Long Yun won and was appointed by Chiang Kai-shek as the chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Government, becoming the "king" of Yunnan.
Until He was stripped of his military power by Chiang in 1945, Long Yun ruled the Yunnan region for 18 years.

So what did Long Yun, who became a local tyrant, rely on to sleep peacefully with many founding fathers and revolutionary heroes in the Babaoshan Cemetery and accept the worship and gratitude of future generations?
This is due to his heroic act of defending his family and defending the country in the War of Resistance Against Japan and bravely dedicating himself to national reunification in spite of all difficulties.
After Long Yun took over the military and political power in Yunnan, he was bent on doing some practical things for the people of Yunnan.
He took the lead in calling for the establishment of Zhaotong Industrial Company in Yunnan to devote himself to the development of Yunnan economy.
Not only that, he also invested in local banks, set up new schools, built highways and bridges, infrastructure and water conservancy projects and other livelihood projects.
During his reign, the living standards of the people of Yunnan have been greatly improved, so they are respected by the people as the "King of Yunnan".
However, on the political road, Long Yun has taken many detours.
At first, he was a loyal supporter of Chiang Kai-shek, and during the Great War in the Central Plains, he was drawn into the war by Chiang Kai-shek, and even more wantonly destroyed the organization of our party in Yunnan.
However, during the Period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in the face of a unified enemy, Long Yun took the initiative to ask Miao to send troops to support the cause of the National War of Resistance.
In the early days of the Japanese invasion of China in 1937, the Japanese army used its superiority in weapons and equipment to block many communication routes on the mainland together with its Southeast Asian allies, resulting in the inability to timely deliver foreign support materials to the anti-enemy front.
At this time, Long Yun took the initiative to stand up to Jiang and ask Zhang to build the Yunnan Burma Highway and establish a traffic trunk line for anti-war materials.
In order to build this lifeline of the War of Resistance as soon as possible, Long Yun personally served as the commander-in-chief and personally went to the front line to supervise the work.
After that, 200,000 soldiers and civilians in Yunnan worked day and night, and it took only 8 months to build the Chinese section of the Yunnan Burma Highway.
This was a feat at the time and contributed greatly to the victory of the War of Resistance.
In the subsequent Battle of Taierzhuang, Long Yun led the first batch of more than 40,000 Dian troops of the 60th Army to swear to Wujiaba, walked more than 1,000 kilometers to Changsha to assemble, and rushed to Taierzhuang to participate in the battle.
In this battle, the Dian army heroically killed the enemy and threatened the enemy, but also suffered heavy casualties, and in the end only 20,000 officers and soldiers survived.
During the fourteen-year-long War of Resistance, the Dian army led by Long Yun rushed to the front line of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and experienced more than 20 battles.
Moreover, the military and civilians of the whole province carried out the Great War of Resistance in Western Yunnan under his call, and the number of casualties among officers and soldiers reached more than 100,000.
At the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, when the Japanese army captured the west of the Nu River in Yunnan, Long Yun disobeyed Chiang Kai-shek's command and led the army and people to defend the Nu River in a dangerous way, and was denounced by Chiang Kai-shek as "shaking and wavering" and then forcibly sent the central garrison to relieve him of his military powers.
After the victory in the War of Liberation, Long Yun came to China at the invitation of our party to return to China and become a member of the revolution after announcing his break with Chiang Kai-shek in Hong Kong.
After the founding of New China, Long Yun was also appointed as one of the standing committee members of the National Political Consultative Conference and served as the vice chairman of the Southwest Administrative Committee.
Finally, in 1962, he died of acute myocardial infarction in Beijing at the age of 78.
Where are the seven sons and one daughter now?
Long Yun's ups and downs in life have attracted the attention of the world, and his descendants have also attracted everyone's attention.
Longyun, the only one in Yunnan, like the emperors and generals in the old days, inevitably pursued a life with a big family and a full house of children and grandchildren.
In his lifetime, he married four wives, and these four wives bore him a total of seven sons and a daughter.
Some of the seven sons inherited their father's ambitions and resolutely joined the army, some focused on civilian duties, and his daughters did not let their eyebrows be raised, and their deeds were not inferior among the male brothers.
It can be said that "the dragon gave birth to eight children, each with great differences".
The eldest son, Long Shengwu, as the eldest son of Long Yun, is the son who gives the greatest support to Long Yun, and naturally has high hopes and hopes to inherit his mantle, so there is a "Wu" character in the name.
He did not live up to Long Yun's expectations, he was a good martial artist since he was a child, and later participated in the Lecture Martial Arts Hall, which can be described as a person as his name suggests.
After graduating from the Imperial Household, he has been serving in the military. He followed his father to fight many times and achieved outstanding military achievements.
Later, however, Chiang Kai-shek attempted to buy Longyun in order to annex Yunnan, and personally took Longshengwu as a "righteous son".
After the Liberation War, Long Shengwu also followed Chiang to Taiwan, and never had the opportunity to return to the mainland. In his later years, Long Shengwu converted to Buddhism until his old age.
The second son, Long Shengzu, was born to the second wife of Long Yun, who was young and promising, enrolled in a prestigious school, studied abroad in his youth, and graduated from the famous French military school Saint Cyr.
After returning from France, he has been fighting alongside his father and brother, and has also achieved remarkable results, serving as a lieutenant general in the Army of the Nationalist government, a veritable general, and later settling in Hong Kong after the Liberation War.
The third son, Long Sheng, was the same mother as the eldest brother and was also the commander of the famous revolutionary army.

He was married to the famous Hong Kong movie star Lin Dai. Even after getting married, she still went around picking flowers and weeds, which made Lin Dai very unhappy.

The sixth son, Long Shengyuan, died prematurely at an early age, and not much about his experience has been recorded.
The youngest son, Long Shengde, was born in 1933, and instead of continuing the martial style of his father and several brothers, he "Shangwen" and eventually became a linguist, working at the Institute of Ethnographic Linguistics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.
He made a certain contribution to the development of the languages of various ethnic groups and has since lived in the United States.
On October 8, 2009, Mrs. LongShengde and his wife Quan Ruju attended the 60th birthday ceremony of the People's Republic of China, and then returned to Kunming to visit the Yunnan Daowu Hall and pay tribute to his father Long Yun.
Long Yun's only daughter, Long Guobi, was born from the Third Lady, and her academic performance from an early age was very good.
As the daughter of a rich man, she did not become unruly, but studied diligently, and was later admitted to Fudan University in Shanghai. After the end of the War of Resistance, she went to the United States to study, and has been living in Washington ever since, and is still alive today.
On August 11, 2010, ms. Long Guobi, 82 years old, and her 11 children and grandchildren rushed from Boston to Zhaotong to worship their ancestors.
Although these eight children of Long Yun came from the same family, their lives were different.
As adults, they each embarked on the path of their own choosing, and now some of them have long passed away, and some of them are dying of old age, scattered all over the world.

Although Long Yun was born in a landlord's family, he did not have a superior heart, but had a chivalrous heart and a heart of kindness to others.
He served the righteous and the wealth of the people, everywhere for the sake of the toiling masses, and everywhere for the sake of the homeland and the world.
After that, even though he held great power and became a local warlord, he was able to clearly distinguish between right and wrong.
He is willing to actively resist Japan in times of crisis, is an out-and-out patriotic general, is willing to sacrifice his own vital interests, takes the initiative to build a lifeline, and is a truly and genuine national hero.
In addition, although Long Yun was a Kuomintang officer, he always put national reunification and the interests of the people first, and after the founding of New China, he leaned closer to our party and actively promoted the cause of reunification in New China.
Therefore, after his death, with his outstanding deeds for the people and the country, he was buried in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery for posterity to mourn.
Zhou Enlai once commented on Long Yun:
"During the years of His lifetime, Mr. Long Yun made three important contributions and meritorious deeds to the country: first, he made contributions to China's democratic revolution; second, he made meritorious contributions to Chiang Kai-shek's personal dictatorship; and third, throughout the War of Resistance Against Japan, he resolutely supported until victory and meritorious service."
And his descendants were influenced by him and embarked on a relatively good life path, which can also be regarded as a blessing given by Long Yun to his descendants.
