Army Second Rank General Long Yun
There was such a patriotic general and anti-Japanese hero who, when foreign Hercules shouted that "the world is invincible," he went into battle with his bare hands; when the War of Resistance was in an emergency, he organized his troops to fight a bloody battle in Taierzhuang; when he was assassinated, he turned the danger into a disaster, and eventually became a member of the Chinese Government and vice chairman of the National Defense Commission.
This patriotic general and anti-Japanese hero is Long Yun, a famous senior general of the Dian Army and a second-class general of the National Revolutionary Army.
First, a small man, defeating the French Hercules with his bare hands
Long Yun, born in 1884 in Zhaotong, Yunnan, is of the Yi ethnic group. After losing his father at the age of 4 and studying in private school for several years, he had to abandon Wen Congwu and practice martial arts with his cousin Lu Han.
In 1912, because of the foundation of learning martial arts, Long Yun was sent to Yunnan to teach martial arts for training. On the eve of graduation, something happened not by chance: a French boxer came to China to make trouble and dominate, thinking that he was invincible in the world, clamoring to single out the "sick man of East Asia" and setting up a ring in the Lecture Hall for three days.
On the first day, all the people who competed, whether they were instructors who had practiced martial arts in the martial arts hall or good sellers on the rivers and lakes, were knocked to the ground by this French Hercules. By the next day, no one dared to go up to the competition. On the third day, when the French thought they had a chance to win, a small man of only one meter and six feet tall came, with a dark face and a pair of straw shoes. This person is None other than Long Yun.

Long Yun, after becoming the chairman of Yunnan Province, set up enterprises, promoted tax reform and financial reform, paid attention to the development of education, and achieved remarkable results in governance and construction in Yunnan.
When the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out in 1937, Long Yun said: "When all the local manpower and financial resources are used, they contribute to the country, sacrifice everything, fight to the end, and save the peril..." He immediately dispatched 6 brigades and 12 regiments with a total of more than 40,000 troops, formed the 60th Army, and went out to fight the War of Resistance.

In April 1938, the 60th Army was ordered to participate in the Battle of Xuzhou, and fought a bloody battle in Taierzhuang, suffering heavy casualties. After the war, the 3 divisions were reorganized into 1 division. Not long after, Long Yun organized 3 more armies and mobilized 200,000 people to participate in the War of Resistance.
Another major contribution of the Longyun War of Resistance was the construction of the Yunnan Burma Highway. Faced with the dilemma of the Japanese army's complete blockade of the mainland coastal passage, Long Yun personally issued an order to build the Burma Road under the condition of a serious shortage of funds, technology and equipment. He tried every means to raise funds, mobilize hundreds of thousands of migrant workers, shoulder to shoulder, and in just 8 months, he built more than 900 kilometers of roads, breaking the isolation of the Japanese army and opening up an important life and material passage.

In October 1945, a "Ten.Three" coup d'état occurred in Kunming, and Long Yun, who had been in charge of Yunnan Province for 18 years, was dismissed from his post. He was forced from Chongqing to Nanjing and was placed under house arrest for 3 years. On December 8, 1948, with the help of General Chennault, he took refuge in Hong Kong. Soon after, he made a public statement attacking Chiang Kai-shek's plot and sending men to persuade him to take over the Luhan uprising in Yunnan.

On August 13, 1949, Long Yun declared an uprising in Hong Kong. After the founding of New China, he successively served as a member of the Central People's Government and vice chairman of the National Defense Commission.
