The competitors of this car in the future may be Tesla's Model 3, which means that its price will also be controlled at about 300,000 yuan, and in my opinion, there is still hope to become a hot model.
According to the previous spy photo, some media exposed the rendering of Weilai ET5, from the perspective of product design, ET5 as a whole is still the continuation of the ET7 design style, the body line is extremely moving, and the aura of the entire product is not lost in business. So in my personal subjective aesthetic point of view, the overall plasticity of this car is still very high-grade, in the front and rear parts of the car as simple as possible, if compared with the appearance of the Model 3, I personally like the appearance of the Weilai ET5 design.
The information about the interior is still strictly confidential, but we refer to other products of Weilai, and we can probably guess what it will look like in the end, nothing more than doing some subtraction on the details of the current ET7. To know that the cockpit of ET7 has been simplified to the extreme, then ET5 may eventually make some trouble on materials, on the one hand, to save costs, on the other hand, to draw a line with ET7.
However, there are also rumors that the interior of the ET5 and ET7 will be quite different, and the ET5 will carry an interesting innovation, which deepens my curiosity about the design of the ET5 cockpit.
Technically, the currently known information is that this car will be built using the second-generation electric drive platform of Weilai NT2.0, with a 100kWh battery, and the mileage is expected to exceed 700KM. This is a very competitive level, if the car technology and driving assistance can also show full sincerity, then the market impact of this car on the Model 3 will be huge.
According to the information released by the Association of Passenger Vehicles, in November this year, the retail sales of new energy passenger cars were 378,000 units, an increase of 122.3% year-on-year and 19.8% month-on-month. From January to November this year, new energy retail sales were 2.514 million units, an increase of 178.3% year-on-year. That is to say, although the overall automobile market is in a stage of slow growth, the growth rate of new energy vehicles at that time is still unabated. The top three brands are BYD, SAIC-GM-Wuling and Tesla.
Then the newly released products of Weilai will not compete directly with Wuling. BYD Han will not become a direct competitor to ET5 due to pricing, Tesla, which has a monthly sales volume of 31732, will be directly impacted by ET5, after all, Model 3 is the main product supporting Tesla's sales.
Speaking of which, whether this car can change the market pattern in the end depends on Weilai's pricing for it. I personally think that less than 300,000 yuan is a wise choice. At present, the cheapest product of Niolai, the entry level is 350,800 yuan, although NIO has always stressed that it should look up to these brands such as BBA, but BBA they also have more people-friendly products to cater to the needs of young consumers. If Weilai arranges the starting price of ET5 at 350,000 yuan, or more than 300,000 yuan, it is still difficult to capture the hearts of the consumer public, and can only be self-congratulatory in the "high-end market" that it thinks it is.
