Ou Shounian, born in 1902, is a native of Luoding, Guangdong. In his early years, he was escorted by his uncle into the Guangdong Junyangjiang Military Training School. After graduation, he participated in the Northern Expedition, was promoted to battalion commander, and later participated in the Wuchang Uprising. It is said that he was forced to participate in the uprising, so when the army returned to Guangdong, he was on his way. Uncle Zhongsui broke away from the rebel army and was appointed commander of the 70th Regiment of the 24th Division. Soon after, he was promoted to brigade commander and participated in the Central Plains War.
In 1931, he was promoted to commander of the 78th Division and participated in the third encirclement and suppression of the Red Army. After the September 18 Incident, the army was transferred to Shanghai and stationed at the Shanghai Gate. In 1932, the Japanese army repeatedly provoked the Chinese army in Shanghai, demanding that the Shanghai army retreat after 30 miles. Military Minister He Yingqin asked them to change their position, but he did not. He sharply refused, saying: "If you really want to go, you would rather not be a soldier and go home and grow sweet potatoes!" ”
In 1932, the 128 Incident broke out, and the Japanese army sent marines to Shanghai to attack the Chinese army. Ji Shounian led the 78th Division of the 19th Army to stand up and become famous. The war began on January 28 and lasted 33 days. At that time, the Japanese army was very arrogant, saying that it would take four hours to capture Shanghai. After reorganization in 1948, he was appointed commander of the Seventh Army. In the Battle of Eastern Henan, tanks broke through and Ou Shounian was captured. But he was lucky. Because of his uncle Cai Tingkai, he was captured and released in 1950. He later went to Guangzhou and died of illness in 1957.
