Although Lü Bu took Xuzhou, after all, there was still a hint of heavenly conscience, he did not do the best, did not hurt Liu Bei's family in Xuzhou, but protected liu bei well, sent Liu Bei back, and took it in Xiao Pei when Liu Bei was trapped, and when Liu Bei was beaten by Yuan Shu and was cornered, he shot at the gate to help him get out of trouble. However, Chen Gong was not so kind, and he repeatedly reminded Lü Bu that "if you don't kill Liu Bei now, you will be harmed later", or under the influence of Chen Gong, Lü Bu drove Liu Bei out of Xiao Pei.
Then, under cao Cao's mediation, Liu Bei shook hands with Lü Bu and made peace, and Liu Bei returned to Xiao Pei. The so-called digging pit and waiting for the tiger was a secret plan given by Cao Cao to Liu Bei, who asked Liu Bei to return to Xiao Pei and wait for an opportunity to seek Lü Bu, but the messenger was discovered by Lü Bu's people, perhaps this is where Cao Cao's treacherous plan lies. Lü Bu was furious and sent an army to attack Xiao Pei, but Liu Bei fled without a horse. Liu Bei could not remember clearly that this was the first time he had abandoned his wife and son, and this time he fled, and all of Liu Bei's family members were trapped in Xiao Pei City.
Lü Bu entered Xiao Peicheng, Mi Zhu was guarding Liu Bei's family, Mi Zhu was also able to speak, he said to Lü Bu: "It is Cao Cao who fights with the general for the world, and Xuan De often reads the grace of the general Yuanmen shooting, it is really a last resort to turn to Cao Cao, and I hope that the general will be pitiful." Lü Bu said, "I have old friends with Xuande, so why can't I bear to harm his wife?" Therefore, Ling Mi Zhu took Liu Bei's wife and children to Xuzhou to settle down, and Lü Bu led a large army to the border of Yanzhou, guarding Xiao Pei with Gao Shun and Zhang Liao, attacking Yu Prefecture with Song Xian and Wei, and colluding with bandits in Yanzhou to fight against Cao Cao, it can be said that Lü Bu at this time was not afraid of Cao Cao at all.
However, Cao Cao had already placed undercover agents around Lü Bu, and Lü Bu regarded Chen Deng as his confidant, but Chen Deng had already sold Lü Bu. Under Chen Deng's ruse, Lü Bu first lost Xiao Pass, which was an important pass on the border line of Xuzhou, and then lost Pengcheng, which was xuzhou's administrative center, and then lost Xiao Pei, which was another dangerous city in Xuzhou, and lost these three important positions, and Lü Bu had to retreat to Xia Pi.
