This episode mainly tells the story of Yin Jifa, a special meritorious hero of the Volunteer Army.
On the battlefield of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, although the automobile transport troops did not directly charge into battle, they undertook important material transportation tasks and often became the focus of the enemy's firepower, and their casualty rate was even higher than that of the front-line combat units.
In March 1951, during the Fourth Campaign to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Yin Jifa received an important task: to deliver urgently needed ammunition and materials to the front line. In order to avoid the bombing and strafing of enemy planes, Yin Jifa and his comrades-in-arms could only choose to drive at night.
As night fell, Yin Jifa and his comrades-in-arms set off along the mountain road in a car full of ammunition. At dawn, enemy planes were raging, and the volunteer convoy parked on the side of the road in camouflage and concealment was soon discovered by enemy planes. A car loaded with ammunition was hit by an enemy aircraft, which immediately triggered a chain explosion. In the blink of an eye, the flames spread, and more than half of the cars were set on fire. Seeing his beloved car and precious supplies burned, Yin Jifa's heart also seemed to be burned. At that time, he was hiding 35 meters away from the vehicle he was driving. If he rushes forward, he may be injured by enemy planes or explosive ammunition and gasoline at any time; if he does not rush, he will see the materials urgently needed at the front line burned in vain. At this critical moment, how will Yin Jifa respond? Can the ammunition on this car be successfully saved?
Xu Wentao, the former director of the Logistics History Museum of the Shenyang Military Region, was invited to tell the important role played by automobile soldiers in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and Yin Liru, the daughter of Yin Jifa, was also invited to tell the audience the story of Yin Jifa and the car he drove.
